Abstract

Abstract Character education plays an important role in shaping a young generation that is not only technically competent, but also has high integrity. In Vocational High Schools (SMK), the conventional discipline approach based on punishment often triggers negative impacts, such as low motivation to learn and less harmonious relationships between teachers and students. This is a serious challenge for education. As an alternative, the positive discipline approach offers a more effective solution by focusing on coaching, rewarding good behavior, and applying educational consequences. This research uses a literature study method and a qualitative descriptive design to explore the application of positive discipline and its impact on students' character transformation. The results show that this approach can increase students' responsibility, empathy, and cooperation, create a conducive learning environment, and improve the relationship between teachers and students. However, effective implementation requires teacher training and time for optimal results. With support from schools, teachers and parents, positive discipline can produce SMK graduates who are not only skilled, but also have high morality and work ethics. These findings provide important insights for the development of character education strategies in SMK.
