This study aimed to investigate the effect of resistance band training on the speed of the “sabit” kick among participants in the pencak silat extracurricular program at SMKS Muhammadiyah 16 in Pon Village. Using a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design, this study involved 25 participants selected through purposive sampling. The intervention, consisting of a resistance band training program, was conducted over 8 weeks at a frequency of 3 times per week. The speed of the sickle kick was measured using a standardized test before and after the intervention. Data analysis included the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and a paired t-test. The results showed a significant increase in sickle kick speed, with the pretest mean of 15.12 (SD = 2.007) increasing to 19.32 (SD = 2.212) at the posttest (t(24) = -16.689, p < 0.001). The average increase of 4.2 kicks (27.8%) demonstrates the substantial effectiveness of the training program. A strong correlation between pretest and posttest scores (r = 0.826, p < 0.001) indicates consistent performance improvements across various initial ability levels. These findings conclude that resistance band training significantly improves the speed of the sickle kick in pencak silat athletes, with important implications for the development of training programs and the enhancement of competitive performance. Further research is recommended to explore long-term effects and the optimization of training protocols.
