MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA MELALUI MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN “POP-UP BOOK” PADA SISWA KELAS III DI SD NEGERI

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low reading ability of third-grade students at SDN 43 Hulontalangi, Gorontalo City. Efforts to improve reading skills require engaging learning media that can motivate students to actively participate in the learning process. One medium used in this research is the Pop-Up Book, which features three-dimensional and interactive elements expected to enhance students’ reading interest and comprehension. The purpose of this study was to improve the reading skills of third-grade students at SDN 43 Hulontalangi through the use of Pop-Up Book media. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) with 21 students as subjects. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation. The results indicated an improvement in reading skills across each cycle. In Cycle I Meeting I, 6 students (28%) achieved mastery, increasing to 9 students (43%) in Meeting II. In Cycle II Meeting I, the number of students achieving mastery rose to 14 (67%), and in Meeting II, it reached 17 students (81%). Therefore, the use of Pop-Up Book media proved effective in enhancing the reading skills of third-grade students at SDN 43 Hulontalangi, Gorontalo City. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan membaca siswa kelas III di SDN 43 Hulontalangi Kota Gorontalo. Upaya peningkatan keterampilan membaca memerlukan media pembelajaran yang menarik dan mampu memotivasi siswa untuk terlibat aktif. Salah satu media yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Pop-Up Book, yang memiliki tampilan tiga dimensi dan interaktif sehingga diharapkan dapat meningkatkan minat baca serta pemahaman siswa terhadap materi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa kelas III SDN 43 Hulontalangi Kota Gorontalo melalui penggunaan media Pop-Up Book. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan subjek 21 siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan membaca pada setiap siklus. Pada siklus I pertemuan I, 6 siswa (28%) mencapai ketuntasan, meningkat menjadi 9 siswa (43%) pada pertemuan II. Pada siklus II pertemuan I jumlah siswa yang tuntas meningkat menjadi 14 siswa (67%), dan pada pertemuan II menjadi 17 siswa (81%). Dengan demikian, penggunaan media Pop-Up Book terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa kelas III di SDN 43 Hulontalangi Kota Gorontalo.
