Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan metakognisi mahasiswa ditinjau berdasarkan gaya kognitif serialist-holist pada setiap komponen metakognisi yaitu metacognitive awareness, metacog-nitive evaluation dan metacognitive regulation. Subjek penelitian ini adalah enam mahasiswa pada program sarjana Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika UIN Antasari Banjarmasin angkatan 2020 dengan gaya kognitif holistik-serialist serta sedang menempuh mata kuliah struktur aljabar serta dipilih sesuai dengan kriteria IPK. Metode Penelitian menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan Metacognitive Awareness mahasiswa holist cukup baik dilihat dari memahami tentang proses berpikir mereka sendiri, sadar strategi kognitif yang efektif, memantau terhadap pemahaman dan kesulitan dalam memecahkan masalah. Kemampuan Metacognitive Regulation mahasiswa holist mampu mengendalikan kognitifnya secara aktif, sedangkan pada serialist menunjukkan lebih banyak yang memiliki kemampuan ini secara aktif mengendalikan proses kognitifnya serta fokusnya dalam suatu permasalahan. Sedangkan pada mahasiswa serialist lebih banyak mahasiswa yang memiliki kemampuan kritis mengevaluasi dan merefleksikan pemahaman dan kinerja kognitif mereka serta menilai keefektifan strategi yang digunakan dalam mengidentifikasi masalah. Exploration of student metacognition: A comparison of holist-serialist cognitive style Abstract: This research aims to analyze the metacognitive abilities of students based on the serialist-holist cognitive style in each component of metacognition, namely metacognitive awareness, metacognitive evaluation, metacognitive evaluation, and metacognitive regulation. The subjects of this study were six students from the 2020 class of Mathematics Education at UIN Antasari Banjarmasin. The research method used was qualitative descriptive. The results showed that the Metacognitive Awareness ability of holist students was quite good, seen from understanding their own thinking processes, aware of effective cognitive strategies, monitoring understanding, and difficulties in solving problems. The metacognitive Regulation ability of holist students is able to control their cognition actively, while serialist shows more who have this ability actively control their cognitive processes and focus on a problem. While serialist students are more students who have the ability to critically evaluate and reflect on their understanding and cognitive performance and assess the effectiveness of the strategies used in identifying problems.
