Abstract

Ecobricks as an Effort for Plastic Waste Management at Gerintuk Public Elementary School, Praya Abstract The problem of plastic waste in the school environment has become an issue that requires serious handling, including at SDN Gerintuk Praya. Based on observations, about 70% of the waste in that school is plastic waste that has not been managed effectively and is often burned, causing negative impacts on health and the surrounding environment. As a solution, the UNDIKMA service team implements the Ecobrick program as a plastic waste management solution. This method is carried out in three stages: socialization, implementation, and utilization. The socialization stage aims to educate about the importance of plastic waste management and the creation of ecobricks. The implementation stage actively involves students and students in the process of collecting and managing plastic waste into bottles until solid. The final result of this program is a useful product in the form of furniture such as tables and chairs made from ecobrick that can be utilized in the school environment, specifically as a reading corner. This program not only impacts the reduction of plastic waste volume but also increases students' awareness and responsibility towards environmental cleanliness. This program demonstrates sustainability as it encourages the consistent practice of waste management among school members and generates long-term social impacts through the development of an environmentally conscious culture and increased collaboration between the school and the community. The application of ecobrick has proven effective as both an ecological and educational solution in fostering a culture of environmental care in schools.
