Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of interactive video media developed using the Loomie Live application integrated with Nearpod for teaching chemical bonding. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design. Validation data were collected using expert judgment instruments completed by material and media experts, while practicality was assessed through responses from teachers and students. The study involved 9 tenth-grade students in a small-scale trial and 30 students during the implementation phase. The validation results indicated that the developed media achieved a mean score of 80.55% for media aspects and 78.27% for material aspects, both categorized as very good. Practicality analysis showed highly favorable results, with an average score of 92.43% from teacher responses. Student responses indicated high practicality, with an average of 88.19% in small-group trials and 95.85% during the implementation stage. Effectiveness analysis revealed a high level of learning improvement, with an N-gain score of 0.8. In addition, students’ learning activeness when using Nearpod-supported interactive videos reached an average of 84.28%, categorized as very active. These findings demonstrate that the developed interactive video media are valid, highly practical, and effective for enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes in chemical bonding instruction. Therefore, the media are suitable for use in chemistry learning processes.
