Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of interpersonal communication by ustadzah (female Islamic teachers) in shaping the self-concept of students (santri) at Nurul Furqon 1 Islamic Boarding School in Cibinong. The background of this research stems from the lack of effective communication between ustadzah and santri, which negatively impacts the development of self-concept and learning motivation among students. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the interpersonal communication established by ustadzah, such as emotional approaches, empathy, and openness, has a significant impact on building a positive self-concept among the students. The role of the ustadzah as an educator, parental figure, and spiritual mentor greatly contributes to fostering students' self-confidence, emotional comfort, and motivation to remain and grow within the pesantren environment. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran komunikasi interpersonal ustadzah dalam membentuk self-concept (konsep diri) santri di Pondok Pesantren Nurul Furqon 1 Cibinong. Latar belakang penelitian ini muncul dari permasalahan kurangnya komunikasi yang efektif antara ustadzah dan santri, yang berdampak pada lemahnya pembentukan self-concept dan motivasi belajar santri. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi interpersonal yang dibangun ustadzah, seperti pendekatan emosional, empati, dan keterbukaan, memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap pembentukan self-concept positif pada santri. Peran ustadzah sebagai pendidik, pengganti orang tua, dan pembimbing spiritual berkontribusi besar dalam membentuk kepercayaan diri, kenyamanan emosional, serta motivasi santri untuk bertahan dan berkembang di lingkungan pesantren.
