Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of flashcard media with the demonstration method in the teaching of Balinese script writing at SDN 8 Kesiman Denpasar, particularly in the third-grade class. Local cultural-based learning of Balinese script is essential in preserving traditions, and the method used plays a significant role in facilitating students' understanding of Balinese script. This study investigates (1) the process of using flashcard media with the demonstration method in teaching Balinese script writing, (2) students' responses to the method, and (3) the implications of implementing the demonstration method in Balinese script learning. The approach used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers, the school principal, and students. The findings revealed that the use of flashcard media combined with the demonstration method improved students’ ability to recognize and write Balinese script correctly. The learning process became more interactive and engaging, increasing students’ enthusiasm, participation, and confidence in learning Balinese script. In addition, repetitive practice and direct teacher guidance helped students overcome difficulties in memorizing and writing Balinese characters. The results of the study indicate that flashcard media with the demonstration method can enhance students' understanding of Balinese script. The learning process, carried out systematically and repetitively, along with the guidance provided by the teacher, has proven effective in helping students recognize and write Balinese script accurately. Students' responses to the use of this method were generally positive, although some challenges were observed in remembering the forms of the script. The implications of using this method are that learning Balinese script becomes more engaging and interactive, which can increase students' involvement in learning local culture.
