<![CDATA[In line with the principles of English as an International Language (EIL), which emphasize the integration of local culture in English Language Teaching (ELT), this study developed a digital supplementary English textbook incorporating local wisdom from Singkawang, Indonesia. Using a Research and Development (R&D) design adapted from the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), the study involved 30 Grade 10 students and three English teachers from a public senior high school. Data were collected through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and expert evaluation sheets. The needs analysis identified gaps in existing reading materials, particularly the limited inclusion of culturally relevant content. Based on these findings, a digital flipbook integrating local cultural elements was developed and implemented over eight classroom sessions. Questionnaire results indicated highly positive student responses, with mean scores above 4.00 across key indicators of engagement, comprehension, and vocabulary support, suggesting that culturally familiar content may facilitate understanding. Expert evaluations confirmed the materials’ pedagogical relevance, cultural appropriateness, and usability, with several revisions recommended. These findings suggest that integrating local wisdom into ELT materials may support learners’ engagement and comprehension, offering practical insights for culturally responsive ELT practices.]]>
