<![CDATA[This study investigates mandiek anak, a distinctive marriage ritual of the Langgam Saripado community in Nagari Salareh Aia, West Sumatra, as a medium of cultural transmission. Employing a qualitative ethnographic approach, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The analysis applies the concept of cultural performance to examine how the ritual preserves and communicates Minangkabau cultural values. The findings indicate that mandiek anak functions not only as a ceremonial tradition; it also serves as a performative mechanism for transmitting knowledge of the matrilineal system, customary leadership, oral literature, ritual performances, and traditional food practices. The active involvement of traditional leaders, bako, and the wider community ensure the continuity of these cultural values across generations. The study concludes that mandiek anak remains an essential cultural institution that strengthens community identity while contributing to the preservation and sustainability of Minangkabau intangible cultural heritage.]]>
