<![CDATA[This study examines the linguistic politeness strategies employed by Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudi Sadewa in a Special Interview with Bloomberg Teknos. The aim of the study is to identify, classify, and analyze linguistic politeness strategies based on Brown and Levinson’s (1987) theory. This study adopts a descriptive qualitative approach using pragmatic analysis techniques. The data were collected through interview transcription and subsequently analyzed to identify positive and negative politeness strategies. The findings indicate that Minister Purbaya Yudi Sadewa employed various politeness strategies in communication, with a predominance of positive politeness strategies, such as the use of humor, providing reasons, and establishing common ground with the interlocutor. Negative politeness strategies were also used through indirect language and by offering choices to the interlocutor. These findings suggest that, in the context of public interviews, a high-ranking state official needs to balance assertiveness in conveying policy positions with politeness in communication in order to build a positive image and public trust.]]>
