<![CDATA[Tanaka hamlet, now known as Arjomulyo hamlet, located in Bangelan village, Wonosari district, Malang regency, holds significant historical value related to the Japanese occupation era in Indonesia. The name “Tanaka” originated from Mitsuyuki Tanaka, a former Japanese soldier who played a key role in the migration and settlement planning of residents from Singosari to the slopes of Mount Kawi in 1942. However, over time, his story and contributions have gradually faded, and the original history has slowly begun to change. Through this Community Service activity, the team from the Japanese Language Education Program, Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Brawijaya, aims to preserve this local history by writing an illustrated storybook. This medium was chosen to suit the low literacy rate in Indonesia, which requires more visual and narrative-based approaches that are engaging and easier to understand. This activity is expected not only to reintroduce the history of dusun Tanaka to the community but also to increase reading interest and strengthen the community’s connection to their cultural heritage. This illustrated storybook, titled "The History of Tanaka," details the origins of the name Tanaka Hamlet. It features a story and illustrations that help readers better understand the plot.]]>
