Abstract

The following workshop is done with the aim to socialize the ways to develop teaching module for Independent Curriculum especially for English subject, since there are still many English teachers who are confused in arranging the teaching module. The data is taken from questionnaire. The participants in this study is the English eachers from Vocational High School in Surabaya. There are 5 questions in the questionnaire. The results showed that the English teachers from Vocational High School in Surabaya is enthusiastic to join the workshop and to create the teaching module after the workshop finished. Previously, many of them were still confused about preparing learning modules due to various perceptions, after attending the workshop they had the same perceptions in developing teaching module and they were more confident in creating it.

Abstract

Abstract Many firms today only search for the finest quality human resource. Those organizations ignore people with poor communication skills because they want employees who can successfully communicate in both English and the local language. During the interview, the job seeker must deal with the English language, and job interview skills are not generally taught in formal schools. The goal of this program is to use the team-teaching method to deliver English for Job Hunting Training to 16 students at Baba Al Hikmah. This method contains English Interview Tips and Tricks, as well as understanding Curriculum Vitae and Resume, are included in this strategy. To do so, the author utilizes 4 techniques (planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation) to solve the students’ problem at Baba Al Hikmah. With the help of this training, the students have better knowledge in English for Job Hunting (Interview, Curriculum Vitae, Resume), have a stronger desire to learn English, and have new English Vocabularies. It is hoped that the training can be a stepping-stone to deal with Job Interviews at a foreign company. Keywords: job hunting; interview; English; curriculum vitae

Abstract

The development of tourism in Malang City should be balanced with improvements in communication skills, particularly foreign languages (English) for tourism operators and tourism facilities that can communicate basic information to foreign tourists, such as directions and descriptions/stories about a tourist spot. Kampung Heritage Kayoetangan (KHK) as one of the thematic village tourist destinations in Malang City requires historical information facilities that can narrate the origins and cultural heritage of the historical spots located there. Therefore, this community service initiative was conducted to assist in providing historical storytelling information facilities at KHK, thereby adding value so that tourism practitioners there can better communicate the historical significance of the places they inhabit.

Abstract

Mental health has become a critical issue recently for young adults (students) around the world, and it is fitting that educational institutions, including in Indonesia, provide a key developmental context to equip students with lifelong mental health and wellbeing skills. The demands on students can replace their ability to cope, coupled, in many cases, with preexisting or newly manifested psychiatric symptoms. The findings of many surveys have highlighted the true severity of the student mental health crisis and are an urgent call to action for universities and government agencies because otherwise it risks an entire generation of students and the future of a nation. Regarding stigma in society, even in educational institutions themselves, the level of hiding the real problem poses a risk that tends to be higher than when we face and deal with this problem openly. Therefore, mental health support for students must be a top priority for our university leaders.

Abstract

The younger generation is the foundation and capital of national development. Therefore, parents, educators, and the government are expected to be serious about providing them with the best education. Understanding and actions to protect children's rights are guaranteed in the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, Article 28B paragraph (2), which states that every child has the right to survival, growth, and development, as well as the right to protection from violence and discrimination. However, in practice, various forms of violence against children still occur, including bullying. The growing needs of society worldwide have made information technology play a crucial role, both in the present and the future. The role of technology also influences students in schools, as technology can enable students to engage in bullying behavior toward their peers. Consequently, it cannot be denied that bullying incidents are on the rise among students, largely due to the lack of awareness among the public and students regarding such behavior.On that basis, it is necessary to raise awareness about stopping bullying among students at SMK/SMA Muhammadiyah Singkut. This awareness campaign is carried out through 1). Delivering the material directly/lecture on the definition, impacts, and regulations related to bullying, 2). Sharing, discussing, asking questions, and engaging in dialogue, giving students the opportunity to participate in this awareness campaign, 3). Using audio-visual aids, electronic audio-visual equipment will be used to display photos/illustrations of bullying victims, present materials, etc. The outcomes of this outreach program include increased knowledge among students about stopping bullying, enhanced understanding of legal regulations related to bullying, and awareness of the impacts on bullying victims.

Abstract

Speech is one of the skills that must be practiced by students in elementary school. Speech is one of the first steps to practice oral communication skills. The fact that occurs in the classroom that students feel less able to do this activity. In addition, students feel that their level of self-convidence is very low. In this regard, the researchers provided assistance to students to practice speech activities using the practice rehearsal pairs method. This activity was carried out at MI Mafatihul Huda. The method of implementation includes preparation, implementation of activities, evaluation, and preparation of final report. As for the result of the activites, the students confidence in giving speeches in pairs. In addition, speech practice is able to hone students speaking skills and increase students interest in learning because they study in pairs with their friends.

Abstract

The partnership between Sekaran Community Health Center and Tyaga Art Management in the PTMA (Integrated Non-Communicable Disease Management) program is a collaboration to create an innovative health program called ISUK (Investment in Waste for Health). Through the ISUK program, it was identified that there is a large amount of cement bag and plastic waste that can be used as raw materials for creative industries to increase economic value and self-reliance. Therefore, training is needed to utilize cement bags and plastic into creative products with economic value that can compete in the market. The method of this activity involves training conducted in collaboration with the Sekaran Health Center. The results of the creative products include bags, tote bags, and wallets. The community has shown high enthusiasm for participating in this activity, with some even planning to pursue it as a self-sustaining business.

Abstract

Toyomarto Village, Singosari District, Malang Regency, has various economically valuable regional potentials and tourism potentials that can be developed. In the education sector, which is located in a remote area with multiple potentials such as Toyomarto Village, there has been insufficient attention from the local government in efforts to develop human resource activities. The lack of IT facilities in the education sector, especially in schools located in villages, has resulted in weak IT development in the era of the 4.0 industrial revolution. The selection of this theme for strengthening educational quality is expected to enhance human resources, particularly educators and students. The strengthening of educational quality based on local wisdom, especially in Toyomarto Village, aims to improve educational quality, particularly the quality of learning, by utilizing the existing potential in Toyomarto Village. Therefore, the community service team plans to implement a concept for strengthening educational quality in Toyomarto Village, Singosari District, Malang Regency, by conducting workshops/training on educational quality improvement based on local potential that can be maximized for educational enhancement. Furthermore, this collaborative planning for educational quality improvement is expected to have a positive impact on enhancing strategies, planning, media, and evaluation of learning in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program.

Abstract

Toyomarto Village has educational facilities ranging from elementary school to high school, including 5 elementary school/MI buildings (SDN Toyomarto I, SDN Toyomarto II, SDN Toyomarto III, SDN Toyomarto IV, and MI Al-Ma'arif 06), 1 junior high school building (SMP Islam Al-Ma’arif 02), and 1 vocational high school building (SMK Insan Mandiri). Efforts to improve the quality of education and enhance teachers’ competencies to achieve greater intelligence and competitiveness involve focusing on enhancing the quality of the learning process through digital integration in the 4.0 era, specifically by developing digital visual teaching materials for the learning process. The strengthening of teachers' competencies in developing digital visual media, particularly in Toyomarto Village, aims to improve the quality of education, especially the quality of learning, by enhancing teachers' competencies in preparing teaching materials for the learning process. Therefore, the community service team conducted community service activities in the form of workshops/training with educational institutions at all levels of education related to “Strengthening teachers' competencies in developing digital visual teaching media in Toyomarto Village, Singosari District, Malang Regency.” Furthermore, this synergistic planning for educational quality development will have a positive impact on improving strategies, planning, media, and evaluation of learning in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program. The outcome of this activity is training in the creation of digital-based teaching media that teachers can apply in the learning process. Abstract

Office 365 is an online learning method that is considered appropriate to be implemented in both partner schools as an additional method to conventional methods. The e-learning method is an electronic learning system that utilizes the internet in its process, allowing teachers to interact with students in online classrooms. SMPN 5 Palu in Central Sulawesi Province is one of the junior high schools strategically located, accessible from three directions with smooth transportation. This school has several strengths, including: highly committed teachers dedicated to improving the quality of graduates, a large number of applicants, high student motivation, and adequate laboratories, including a multimedia laboratory. The teaching methods used by teachers at the partner school have been conventional, such as lectures in the classroom, with no utilization of internet resources in their teaching, as they are unaware of their potential. However, the facilities and infrastructure available to teachers and students are highly supportive, as most teachers and students already have their own laptops, and the school has computer laboratory facilities. Similarly, telecommunications and internet networks now cover almost all areas of Palu City, making it easy to implement online learning. The aim of this training is to enable learning to proceed effectively even under PJJ conditions by adapting to Microsoft Office 365 so that students who are far outside Palu City can still carry out online learning. Assisting teachers in managing online classes, such as uploading materials, creating online practice questions and assigning weights to those questions, creating engaging educational videos from materials, and so on. Microsoft Office 365 is a cloud-based Office application developed by Microsoft that allows users to access various content online via the internet. The development of digital classrooms based on Microsoft 365 has recently been trained to 30 teachers at SMP N 5 Palu.
