<![CDATA[Lecturer competency development is an essential factor in improving the quality of higher education and the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. However, lecturers’ competencies do not always align with job demands and the evolving academic environment. Therefore, a training needs analysis is necessary to identify competency gaps and determine priorities for lecturer development programs. This study aims to analyze lecturer competencies and identify the training needs of lecturers at STAI Ali bin Abi Thalib Surabaya. The research employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive method. The population consisted of all 36 lecturers at STAI Ali bin Abi Thalib Surabaya, all of whom were included as research respondents. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring the importance and mastery levels of pedagogical, personal, social, and professional competencies. Data were analyzed using gap analysis by comparing the mean scores of importance and mastery for each competency. The findings revealed competency gaps across all dimensions, indicating the need for further development. Professional competence showed the highest average gap (1.03), followed by pedagogical competence (0.84), social competence (0.60), and personal competence (0.56). The primary training needs identified were research and scientific publication, the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technology, and instructional development.
