Abstract

This review examines how Piil Pesenggiri, the ethical philosophy of the Lampung community, can be translated into social studies pedagogy without reducing local wisdom to decorative curriculum content. A qualitative systematic integrative review was conducted using the search information retained in the source manuscript: ScienceDirect and Google Scholar, publications from 2020–2024, and terms related to local wisdom, education, Lampung, and Piil Pesenggiri. Seven focal studies—six Scopus-indexed articles and one nationally accredited article—were analyzed through structured extraction and thematic synthesis. The literature clustered around four themes: curriculum integration, learning and character outcomes, cultural sustainability, and context-responsive pedagogy. The synthesis also resolves an inconsistency in the literature: Piil Pesenggiri may be described as an overarching ethical orientation supported by four operational pillars—Bejuluk Beadok (or Juluk Adek), Nemui Nyimah, Nengah Nyappur (or Nengah Nyampur), and Sakai Sambayan—rather than as four and five unrelated values. Nengah Nyappur and Sakai Sambayan provide the most direct procedural basis for dialogue, participation, cooperation, and collective responsibility, while Nemui Nyimah, Bejuluk Beadok, and the overarching principle of dignity strengthen classroom climate, role responsibility, and ethical judgment. The review proposes a pedagogical framework linking cultural values to contextual inquiry, cooperative learning, community-connected action, and authentic assessment. Because the available search log did not retain complete screening counts, the findings should be treated as a transparent conceptual synthesis rather than evidence of instructional effectiveness.
