Students’ interest plays a crucial role in sustaining the teaching and learning process, as a lack of learning interest can negatively affect students’ enthusiasm, attention, participation, and engagement in classroom activities. Low learning interest may also influence students’ academic achievement and their understanding of the material being taught. Therefore, identifying the factors that influence students’ interest in learning Civic Education (PPKn) at SMP PGRI 6 Malang, as well as the strategies used by teachers to enhance this interest, is the main objective of this study. This research employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and observations to obtain a comprehensive overview of students’ learning interest. The findings indicate that, from the perspective of internal motivation, students’ interest in learning PPKn is relatively low. External factors influencing students’ learning interest include the school environment, peer influence, parental support, the teacher’s role, and the availability of facilities and infrastructure. Meanwhile, internal factors consist of students’ personal motivation and their attitudes toward the PPKn subject. To improve students’ learning interest, teachers implement various strategies, such as applying diverse teaching methods, utilizing instructional media and classroom technology, providing continuous motivation, and creating an interactive and conducive classroom atmosphere.
