This study examines the implementation of the plastic free school policy at SMA Negeri 1 Gading Rejo in an effort to realize a Green School. The research addresses the problem that although environmental policies have been formally adopted, their managerial implementation and sustainability remain inconsistent and require systematic evaluation. The objectives of this study are to analyze the processes of planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the policy, as well as to identify constraints, strategies to overcome obstacles, and its impact on fostering environmental awareness within the school community. This research employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data were collected through in depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal, vice principals, teachers, canteen managers, and students. The findings reveal that the plastic free school policy has been implemented as part of the school’s institutional commitment and is integrated with the Adiwiyata Program. The policy has increased awareness and participation among school members in reducing single use plastics and promoting a cleaner and healthier environment. However, the implementation has not yet been fully optimal. Planning remains largely normative, organizational structures are not entirely formalized and technical, implementation lacks consistency particularly in the canteen area, and evaluation is not yet supported by systematic indicators and proper documentation. Strengthening operational planning, clarifying organizational roles, enhancing implementer capacity, and developing a sustainable evaluation system are therefore necessary to ensure a more significant and lasting impact in achieving a Green School.
