Abstract

This community service program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata Tematik) was conducted in Puncak Village, Cigugur District, Kuningan Regency, to address the suboptimal utilization of literacy facilities and support rural community development. This study aims to describe the optimization of the Community Reading Park (Taman Bacaan Masyarakat/TBM) as an interactive learning space for elementary school children while strengthening local social, economic, and health sectors. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, integrating educational, collaborative, and mentoring strategies through six systematic stages: coordination, needs observation, program planning, action implementation, evaluation, and sustainability. Findings revealed that the initiative successfully revitalized TBM "Puncak Ceria" through the systematic cataloging and labeling of 936 books, regular learning assistance across three elementary schools, and literacy competitions. Additionally, the program mapped five local food MSMEs, supported Posyandu operations along with elderly health education, and improved road safety through reflective markers. The practical implication of this program is the establishment of a sustainable, community-driven literacy and empowerment ecosystem that actively enhances children's reading interest and village welfare.
