The researchers at SDN Lantek Timur 2 set out to determine how well first graders at that school understand the concept of comparing amounts and how much they retain when they work with real-life examples. The study used a quantitative approach and a one-group pretest-posttest design. Twenty-four first graders participated in the research. The data was collected using a previously validated questionnaire consisting of 10 statements and an exam consisting of ten multiple-choice questions. A normality test, a Paired-Sample t-test, and MANOVA were used to evaluate the data. Both the Paired-Sample t-test and MANOVA showed that the learning comprehension and motivation factors were significantly different from each other (0.000 < 0.05). In order to pique the attention of and facilitate their learning of the notion of comparing item quantities, first graders at SDN Lantek Timur 2 benefit substantially from the use of tactile media.
