Abstract

Advances in information technology in the digital age and Society 5.0 have brought about major changes in the world of education, particularly in elementary school. In the context of mathematics learning in elementary school, critical thinking skills are crucial because mathematics is not only focused on calculations but also on analytical skills, reasoning, and problem-solving. In reality, students’ critical thinking skills remain relatively low. This is due to a lack of diverse learning modules, resulting in ineffective, boring, and meaningless learning that negatively impacts students’ learning outcomes. This study aims to develop learning materials in the form of AI-assisted mathematics e-modules to enhance the critical thinking skills of elementary school students. This study used the ADDIE development model. The subjects of this study were 12 fourth-grade elementary school students. The instruments used included interviews, critical thinking ability tests, and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques employed both quantitative and qualitative methods. Product validation was conducted by subject matter experts and media experts, supplemented by a practicality test using teacher and student feedback questionnaires. The validation results show that the E-Module falls into the “highly valid” category, with a 95% agreement rate from media experts and a 93% agreement rate from subject-matter experts. The product’s practicality, as determined by student questionnaires (91%) and teacher questionnaires (93%), was categorized as “highly practical.” Students' critical thinking abilities have improved as a result of this program, as seen by their N-Gain score of 0.71, which is in the "high" range. This AI-assisted Electronic Mathematics Module is therefore regarded as legitimate, useful, and efficient for enhancing mathematical critical thinking abilities.
