This community-service program strengthened the capacity of the Bunga Pala Business Group on Lemukutan Island, West Kalimantan, in hygienic food processing and the use of appropriate technology. Twenty members participated in training, technology transfer, production assistance, and the provision of a chopper, vacuum sealer, and digital scale. Evaluation used pre- and post-activity assessments on food hygiene, equipment operation, raw-material standardization, and packaging. Improvements were recorded for food-hygiene knowledge (42% to 87%), vacuum-sealer operation (18% to 91%), raw-material standardization (35% to 85%), packaging techniques (30% to 90%), and chopper operation (20% to 88%). The equipment also shortened one production batch from approximately 30 to 15 minutes and increased the amount processed from about 5 to 7 kg per batch. The program indicates that participatory training combined with appropriate technology can improve production consistency, packaging quality, and the operational capacity of small-scale food businesses.
