This study aims to analyze the forms and meanings of women’s dominance in the weekly worship practices at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Banda Aceh. This phenomenon is particularly noteworthy as it occurs in a region where the majority of the population is Muslim, yet the Catholic community continues to exhibit distinct internal dynamics in its religious life. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with church leaders and congregants, and documentation of worship activities. The findings reveal that women’s dominance in worship is not only quantitative but also qualitative, encompassing leadership roles in the choir, liturgical activities, and church-based social services. This dominance stems from historical, social, and spiritual factors, in which women play a vital role in sustaining the faith community amid the limited number of believers. The study highlights that the religious roles of women in Banda Aceh reflect a form of religiosity that is inclusive, resilient, and contextually attuned to local culture. This research contributes to the broader discourse on gender and religious practice within minority communities in Indonesia.
