Abstract

Objective: This study investigates the integration of computer science and information technology (IT) education to enhance students’ media competence, a critical skill in an era marked by rapid digitalization and widespread misinformation. Method: Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research combines quantitative analysis of student performance with qualitative data from classroom observations and interviews. The study engaged both secondary and university-level students through a tailored curriculum incorporating coding, data analysis, and media evaluation tasks, supported by digital tools such as educational platforms, coding simulations, and media annotation software. Results: The findings reveal a marked improvement in students’ critical assessment of digital content, source verification, and bias recognition. Students also demonstrated increased confidence in navigating digital environments and applying computational thinking to media challenges, with collaborative learning and engagement notably enhanced among diverse learners. Novelty: This study presents a novel interdisciplinary framework that merges technical and critical thinking skills, underscoring the potential of cross-curricular strategies to foster media literacy and prepare students as informed digital citizens.

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to employ Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in the Balad District through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Method: The study area lies between latitudes (37°44′48″ and 37°71′61″) north and longitudes (48°11′24″ and 49°49′25″) east, covering a total area of (2161.34 km²), equivalent to (592,145 donums). Through the analysis of the road network, the study identifies the fastest routes between specific points (e.g., from point A to point B). Service area analyses (cumulative and multiple) illustrate how accessibility changes with increased barriers; for example, determining the number of hospitals accessible within 5, 10, and 15 minutes’ drive from schools. Additionally, by analyzing traffic data, the accessibility of hospitals may vary according to traffic conditions. Results: Key requirements for the successful implementation of ITS include political commitment, sufficient budget allocations to ensure project sustainability, the establishment of traffic control centers for monitoring and managing traffic remotely, and the creation of a central database containing information on vehicles and road networks. Novelty: The study integrates ITS and GIS in the Balad District to identify optimal routes and assess service accessibility dynamically based on traffic conditions, highlighting infrastructural and administrative requirements for effective ITS deployment.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines Uzbekistan's regulatory framework for information dissemination, focusing on safeguarding societal values and protecting vulnerable populations, particularly children. Method: A qualitative approach is employed, analyzing constitutional provisions, legislative acts, government resolutions, and categorization methods for information, alongside policy assessments and comparative reviews with international practices. Results: The findings reveal a structured legal framework balancing transparency with protection. Information is categorized into five types—beneficial, neutral, harmful, culturally sensitive, and misleading—each addressed through nuanced policies. Specific measures include the 2018 law mandating age-based content classification and expert accreditation to evaluate harmful content. Challenges identified include limited parental and institutional oversight and the need for technological solutions like AI-based filters. Novelty: This research highlights the integration of age-specific digital regulations and expert accreditation as innovative tools in mitigating harmful content, presenting a model adaptable to other jurisdictions. These findings emphasize the evolving landscape of information governance and the critical need for collaborative efforts among stakeholders to ensure a safer informational ecosystem.
