Abstract

Philosophy is not a construction of abstract concepts isolated from social reality and human experience. Yet, philosophy includes a study of language as well as logic and rhetoric. The nature of philosophy is determined by its genesis. Since the period of Greek philosophy, Socrates developed a philosophy as the fruit of a dialog with day-to-day human experience for attaining a higher degree of wisdom. All along its history, there were great philosophers who studied and developed a philosophical thought that address human problems or shed light to their questions. Indeed, a serious philosophical reflection is determined by its relevance and significance to the human struggle and experience.

Abstract

Jesus was sentenced to death by Pontius Pilate. Although he found no guilt in Jesus, he decided to give Jesus over to the Jewish leaders who sought his death. Pilate, a Roman Judge, has thrown away the truth he believed and sentenced Jesus. On the other hand, the Jewish leader has thrown away their deepest conviction that God alone is their only King! They made themselves sons of Caesar, slaves of a Roman Imperator. Who is the winner in the trial before Pilate? It is not Pilate, nor the Jewish leaders. It is Jesus who keeps his strong conviction that God alone has power over him. He is God's Son, King of the Jews.

Abstract

Suffering is a human experience that touches the depth of its being. At on point suffering is present as terror against human life. Suddenly it came unpredictably. Going through an experience of terror or facing this possibility, a question was raised: why do people have to suffer such terror? Is there any possible meaning in it? Within a Javanese society, a search for meaning of a human phenomena of suffering is closely related to the origin and the goal of human life. Somehow, an experience of suffering has an edifying and positive aspect for each individual as well as human communities in general. It poses a question to be answered for the betterment of human relations and their presence in the universe.

Abstract

We live together with others-people who have different religions. There are many religion believed by people around us. Thus, there are some ways that we can do together with others and people who have other religions. The important thing to make a good relationship to one another is the consciusness which shows that reality is plural. The attitude that I choose here is relious pluralism which is a realistic attitude that comes from that consciusness. Religious pluralism is the way that I stiil stand on my identity (my religion), and I open to others (other religions) as partners in my life. Religious pluralism, here, is defined as a way of life with others to live together, to work together, and to make our life better as a member of society.

Abstract
