Abstract

Just war theory deals with justification of why and how the war should be fought. Justification can be either theoretical or historical. This essay will primarily deal with ethical justification of war and forms that warfare may or may not take. Methodology employed in this essay will be more historical, to explain how Catholic Church deals with the historical body of rules or agreements that have been applied in various wars across the ages while continuously promoting peace among the people. The goal of this essay is to argue and postulate that war, even an apparent evil, is not always an absolutely wrong option.

Abstract

In dealing with problems of modernity, religious communities should developa cooperation which is enable to construct a system based on common ethics,which gives support to the implementation of the mandate of humanity, in linewith the vision of all religions. This article offers an alternative of the way ofthinking on the differences between Christianity and Islam.Based on Levi-Strauss structuralism, there are two points offered in this article.The first is the paradigm and methodology needed to find out alternative wayof thinking on the religious differences. The second is the application of themethodology which produces new insights of these differences.The new point presented in this article are that the differences of religions canbe traced from the reality that each culture has beliefs on the Absolute whichhas a relationship with the human being with its implications. Differences doesnot mean negation to one another if we can understand the various parts of thedoctrines in the whole context and in the relationship with other elements of thewhole system.

Abstract

Generally, in this digital era, some concerns arise relating to assistance to young people. Mentoring process is not as easy as that done at 4 or 5 decades ago. The situation is more concerned by the monastic community which is to support the values and way of life which is contrary to the values offered by the modern world today. The current generation does have characteristics which is different from the generation that lived in the 40s. The current generation faces challenges that make them much more difficult to persevere in the vision and commitment. By the time the situation is almost instantaneous, offering various facilities, and highly hedonic, who unwittingly caused the split of the self. This condition requires an approach that enables them to manage themselves better. Multisensory approach in learning process, self processing and spiritual exercise, as well as therapeutic community is a way offered to help them reflect and measure themselves.

Abstract

To help build a peaceful society that respects justice and personal dignity, we need a solid ethical foundation. For St. Augustine, ethical norms are inseparable from human conscience. From the depth of one's heart, the power of life flows. Each individual has an interior drive that leads him or her to the ultimate goal of life, which is a perfect happiness. Building a good and civilized society is a shared responsibility. Each individual is called to participate in it and within that social atmosphere each person is challenged to move forward in pursuing a perfect happiness and everlasting peace.

Abstract

Pertanyaan mengenai plausibilitas iman diajukan sebagai pertanyaan mengenai tempat dan makna sastra Kebijaksanaan dalam Kitab Suci Perjanjian lama. Humanitas dan universalitas menghubungkan karangan-karangan dalam Kitab Suci dengan alam pikiran di luar lingkungan agama Israel; dengan membahas masalah-masalah manusiawi yang menjadi pertanyaan semua manusia, diteguhkan iman orang dalam tradisi Israel yang kini hidup dalam lingkungan lain. Pemikiran mengenai ibadat membuka wawasan melampaui perspektif Yahudi dan menantang penghayatan iman di luar tempat ibadat. Maka, dari analisis tentang sastra itu menjadi jelas bahwa dialog mengenai kata-kata iman dan perwujudan iman dalam hidup perlu diperhatikan sebagai jalur agar warta agama dapat menyapa manusia secara eksistensial.

Abstract

Eucharist is the center of the Orthodox Church. The churchexists because of and in the celebration of the Eucharist. Wherever the Eucharist is, there is the Church.In the Eucharist, the essence of the church is also revealed and celebrated. The church as embodied through the Eucharistis the image of the kingdom of God, since the Eucharist is the anticipation of the future. Through Eucharist, the church moves to its fullness of the kingdom of God. It transforms the world to be sanctified and formed according to the will ofGod. Therefore, the renewal of humanity and the transformation of our world render the logical consequences of the Eucharist and the essence of the church as the image of the kingdom of God.

Abstract

Asghar Ali Engineer (1940-) is a distinguished scholar and activist of Islam in India. He believes in the importance of showing equal respect to all religions and he considers faith in religion as most vital for a meaningful and transformative life. A true religion should open the way to liberating movements to free people from ignorance, superstition, oppression, slavery and injustice. Faith gives dignity to freedom in thinking and acting. These are noble ideals that do not only provide inspiration to live, but also encouragement to foster creativity, purposeful and peaceful life. Somehow, Asghar Ali Engineer found that women have not been treated equally in some Muslim establishments. That is what he is struggling to change. Justice and equality is unseparable, and he believes that a true religion will not be against the struggle for justice and peace. For this reason, he develops a liberating and inter-religious theology.
