Abstract

Advertisement is used effectively as a medium of marketing goods and services. In contrast to the initial appearance where the ad was almost brought a single character, namely to inform the availability of necessary good and services needed, advertising nowadays prefer to create new needs. Its finality was eventually reduced to advertising as a means of expanding the market through the creation of new needs to the point of infinity. Through the power of teaching, the Catholic Church reminds us to create ads that ethically responsible for educating the consumers to the rationality and freedom to buy the good and services. In these two aspects-designing ethical ads and obligation to teach people to be rational-that stands the urgency of this paper.

Abstract

The theological concepts of suffering and redemption as developed in Christianity have echoed in a certain manner in the Shiites Islam. This is clear from the martyrdom of imam Husayn in Karbala. The suffering and death of Imam Husayn, for the Shiites, offer the desire to take participation in it for their salvation in the hereafter. The participation in expressed in some rituals, like taziyah and ziyarah. As for in Christianity , especially in Catholicism, the memory of the suffering and death of Jesus Christ is expressed in some prayers and devotions, one of which is the Stations of the Cross. Apart from the parallelism, there are also some dissimilarities on the significance of suffering as well as redemption in the Shiite and Catholicism theologies.

Abstract

Being left by Saint Paul for some months, there was seemingly a kind of disputes among the first Christians in Corinth about some moral and pastoral matters. As a positive response to such a situation, Saint Paul sent them a special letter. In that well-known letter, Saint Paul tried to expose his personal teaching about some aspects of Christian belief and Christian way of life. The teaching of Saint Paul, as far as it is formulated in his first letter to the Corinthians chapter 7, was concerned among other things about celibate life as well as about married life, about divorce, about mixed married, and about the widows. The apostle underlined the dignity of celibate life as well as the dignity of married life. He demanded all Christian couples to be faithful, one to each other. He recommended celibate life for the young Christian who were ready to live just only for the Kingdom of God.The Catholic Church has faithfully interpreted and implemented the teaching of Saint Paul, as well as the teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ, since the second century up to this century. Many catholic bishops, for example, have given the nihil obstat to the parish priest throughout the world, especially in Asia and Africa, to implement the so-called privilegium paulinum, even though they have also consistently taught that matrimony should be always indissoluble.
