Abstract

Jonas Brothers’ song lyrics which are about love become the data of this piece of writing. The development of Jonas Brothers’ lyrics main theme, in this case love divided into the sub themes of friendship, unrevealed love, one sided love, waiting, regretting, and separating become the focus of this piece of writing. In terms of methodology, the “contrast analysis” is applicable for data collection. The theory based on Wellek and Warren, idea is a form of philosophy and it is leading into ideas. Perrine’s definition of theme saying that theme belongs to a part of human’s experience. Whereas for the purpose of analyzing Roberts’ paradigm including the descriptive method are applied. The result findings show that there are six sub themes which develop from the theme of love. The sub themes of friendship and unrevealed love dominate the whole writing.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTION In dieser Untersuchung wird über die konduktive Äuβerung im Film Dschungelkind gesprochen. Diese Untersuchung ist eine pragmatische Analyse und hat das Ziel, um die konduktive Äuβerung im Film Dschungelkind zu identifizieren, zu klasifizieren, und zu beschreiben.  Die Datenquelle wird aus der Äuβerung des Schauspielers im Film aufgenommen. Die Schreiberin benutzt den pragmatischen Ansatz und deskriptive Methode, um die Daten zu analysieren. Als die theoretische Grundlage verwendet die Schreiberin die Meinungen von Austin (in Savigny 1989). Nach Austin besteht die konduktive Äuβerung aus Entschuldigungen, Dank, Mitgefühl, Einstellungen, Grüβe, Wünsche, Herausforderungen. Auβerdem haben achtunddreizig Anwendungen der konduktiven Äuβerungen.   Als die Schlüβfolgerung findet die Schreiberin sechs Arten und achtzehn Anwendungen der konduktiven Äuβerungen im Film Dschungelkind, nämlich 1) Dank: danken; 2) Mitgefühl: bedauern, Mitgefühl ausdrücken; 3) Einstellungen: kritisieren, klagen, murren, sich beschweren, verübeln, zustimmen, bereuen, loben, empfehlen, und verwerfen; 4) Grüβe: grüβen und willkommen heiβen; 5) Wünsche: wünschen und anstoβen; 6) Herausforderungen: gegen verwahren.   Stichwörter : die konduktive Äuβerung, der Film, die pragmatische Analyse.

Abstract

要旨 現(げん)代(だい)日本(にほん)語(ご)には「な」形容(けいよう)詞(し)および「い」形容(けいよう)詞(し)と言(い)う形容(けいよう)詞(し)がある。日本(にほん)語(ご)の学(がく)習(しゅう)者(しゃ)にとっては｢な｣形容(けいよう)詞(し)および｢い｣形容(けいよう)の使(つか)い方(かた)や使(つか)い分(わ)け結(けっ)構(こう)難(むずか)しいと 言(い)われている。そのため、会(かい)話(わ)の時(とき)や、作文(さくぶん)を書(か)くときによく間(ま)違(ちが)っている。このため、「い」形容(けいよう)詞(し)および「な」形容(けいよう)動(どう)詞(し)・形容(けいよう)詞(し)が文中(ぶちゅう)で実(じっ)際(さい)にどのように使用(しよう)されているか、またいかなる特(とく)徴(ちょう)が有(あ)るかは十分(じゅうぶん)に把握(はあく)できない。 そこで本(ほん)研究(けんきゅう)では、教(きょう)科(か)書(しょ)に乗(の)せた実(じっ)際(さい)の用(よう)例(れい)を持(も)ちいて分析(ぶんせき)を行い、現(げん)代(だい)日本(にほん)語(ご)における「い」形容(けいよう)詞(し)および「な」形容(けいよう)動(どう)詞(し)の意味(いみ)、用法(ようほう)について明(あき)らかにすることを目的(もくてき)とする。データの集(あつ)め方(かた)は日本(にほん)語(ご)の教(きょう)科(か)書(しょ)にある「な」形容(けいよう)詞(し)および「い」形容(けいよう)詞(し)の例(れい)文(ぶん)を集(あつ)めて、それから、　記述(きじゅつ)的(てき)理(り)論(ろん)に基(もと)づいて分析(ぶんせき)した。 研究(けんきゅう)結(けっ)果(か)としては、「い」形容(けいよう)詞(し)および「な」形容(けいよう)詞(し)は両(りょう)方(ほう)「物(もの)」の状(じょう)態(たい)やシテゥエションに関(かん)することを説(せつ)明(めい)するのを示(しめ)す。 なお、本(ほん)研究(けんきゅう)は例(れい)文(ぶん)や、使(つか)った教(きょう)科(か)書(しょ)は少(すく)ないため、この研究(けんきゅう)をもっと研究(けんきゅう)したら、最高(さいこう)だと思(おも)う。最(さい)後(ご)になったがこの研究(けんきゅう)は日本(にほん)語(ご)の学(がく)習(しゅう)者(しゃ)に役(やく)に立(た)てるように期待(きたい)している。     ABSTRAK Dalam bahasa Jepang modern, ada kata sifat yang disebut kata sifat ~i dan kata sifat ~na. Hal ini bisa dibilang cukup sulit penggunaanya bagi pembelajar bahasa Jepang untuk menggunakan kata sifat ~i dan ~na yang tepat. Banyak kesalahan yang terjadi pada waktu percakapan maupun menulis kalimat. Oleh karena itu, apa atau bagaimana penggunaan yang tepat mengenai kata sifat ~i dan kata sifat ~na (atau disebut juga kata kerja adjektiva) ini dipakai, kita bisa menggunakan cukup fitur untuk berlatih di setiap bagian-bagian yang tidak dipahami. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menganalisis ada contoh aktual yang terdapat dalam buku teks pelajaran yang bertujuan untuk menerangkan tentang arti dan penggunaan kata sifat ~i dan ~na dalam bahasa Jepang modern. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara mengumpulkan contoh-contoh kalimat tentang kata sifat ~i dan ~na dalam buku teks bahasa Jepang, kemudian dianalisis berdasarkan teori deskriptif. Dan sebagai hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, kedua kata sifat ini yakni kata sifat ~i dan ~na dipakai untuk menjelaskan sifat / keadaan / situasi suatu benda. Perlu dicatat, setelah diteliti lebih lanjut rasanya lebih baik jika tahu lebih banyak mengenai contoh-contoh kalimat dalam penelitian ini beserta buku teks yang digunakan. Akhir kata, semoga penelitian ini diharapkan agar bermanfaat bagi para pembelajar bahasa Jepang.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research, entitled “An Error Analysis of Simple Past Tense in Students’journals: A case study in Written English II” is an attempt to identify, classify and analyze the kinds of errors in the use of simple past tense in students’ journals  in written English II class. This research expected to help in developing language learning process and to give information in order to increase knowledge to understand errors made in the usage of simple past tense This research used a qualitative approach which has been done in several stages: preparation was made by reading the theory about simple past tense and the previous studies related to this research. Ellis’s theory is used to explain how to analyze the use of simple  past tense by students in written English II class. Data was taken from  students in written English II class uses test which given by the teacher to the students to make a journal. The writer use some techniques of analyzing the data,as follows: Identification of error, Classification, Description,and Correction. The result of this research shows that there are three kinds of errors made by students; there are omission, misinformation and misordering. All the errors are generally caused by the lack of students‘ ability of using the right English sentence patterns. The students can make the sentences but they do not know the correct patterns. Key word: simple past tense, error analysis, omission, misinformation and misordering.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research entitled “Konjungsi Subordinatif dalam Novel Slaughter House Five Karya Kurt Vonnegut, Jr“ is written to fulfill the requirement of finishing S1 degree in English Department Faculty of Letter Sam Ratulangi University. The aims of the research to classify, to describe and to analyze subordinative conjunction  in terms of its classification and meaning. In analyzing the data the writer uses descriptive method and by using the concept of  Frank about classification and  meaning. The results of this research show that the classification of subordinative conjunction that are used by Vonnegut, Jr. in the novel are subordinative conjunction single-word and subordinative conjunction two-word,  meanings are subordinative conjunction can state  time, contrast, cause, manner, condition, purpose, exception, and concessive. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is entitled Noun Phrases in Journal Article Beyond Film: Exploring the Content of Movie by John Scacco. The objectives research is to identify and classify the kinds of noun phrases and to analyze the internal functions of noun phrases. This research used descriptive method. The writer collected the data of noun phrases from article Beyond Film: Exploring the Content of Movie by John Scacco, which consists of 4 pages. After collecting the data, the writer analyzed the internal functions of noun phrases by using the theory of Aarts and Aarts (1982). The results of this research first, there are 90 noun phrases found in journal article Beyond Film: Exploring the Content of Movie by John Scacco. Noun phrases are distinguished in three functions: head, determiner and modifier. The noun phrases that are most widely used is head (65), determiner is 22 include pre determiner (12), central determiner (5) and post determiner (3). There are 9 modifiers include pre modifier (3) and post modifier (6) but discontinuous modifiers are not found in this research. Secondly the result show that the internal function of noun phrases is divided into three: pre modifier, post modifier and discontinuous modifier. The pre modifier found in the journal article: pre modifier realized by adjective phrase (1), noun phrase (1), and a classifying genitive (2) while post modifier can be filled with prepositional phrase (1), finite clause (2) and infinitive clause (1). Adjective phrase (0) and adverb phrase (0) are not found in this research.   KEYWORDS: Internal function, Noun Phrase, Article Beyond Film: Exploring the Content of Movie.

Abstract

Abstract This research is entitled “The Influence of Social Stratification on Pip in novel Great Expectations by Charles Dickens”. This study discusses about meaning of the social stratification and influence on Pip in novel Great Expectations. The aim of this study is to know the meaning and the influence of social stratification on Pip that gives some impacts to his life which change his personality and attitude. This study applies intrinsic and extrinsic approaches by Wellek and Warren (1949). In analyzing the influence of social stratification on Pip, the writer uses theories by Sorokin (1969) and Weber (cited in Ilmusiana, 2015). This study also uses descriptive method in analyzing the data. The result shows that the main character Pip became a different person because of the influence of social stratification. The background of his family from the low class society makes him want to be a man of high class and rich. Estella makes Pip fall in love when he was a child and this encourages him to change his life. Pip’s live begins when he lives in London and leaves his family in the village. The riches he receives from the benefactor make him arrogant but later Pip regrets

Abstract

ABSTRACT   This research entitled “Prepositions in the Lyrics of  Metropolis Album by Dream Theater” is written to analyze and classify the form and the meaning of the prepositions that are used in that album. A preposition is a word that connects a noun or pronoun with a verb, adjective, or another noun or pronoun by indicating a relationship between the things for which they stand. The problems of this research are focused on what are the form and the meaning of prepositions that are found in the lyrics of Metropolis Album? The method used in this research is descriptive. The data of prepositions in this research were collected from the lyrics of  Metropolis Album Part I and Part II by Dream Theater. The data of the prepositions found in the album are given number and wrote in the small cards. The result of this research shows that The Writer of the lyrics in this album used many prepositions to express meaning through the lyrics of his songs. The research used Quirk (1985) concept in analyzing the form of prepositions, whereas Curme (1986) concept is used in analyzing the meaning of prepositions found in the lyrics of the songs in the Metropolis Album. Abstract

Abstract The research is entitled Motherhood in the Two Short Stories The Shawl and Two Kinds. The objective of this research is to identify, classify, and analyze the motherhood theme as the main theme in the two short stories The Shawl and Two Kinds. The objective of this research is also to compare the reflection of motherhood in these both short stories. The writer conducted this research by using descriptive method. The data were collected by focusing on the character, plot, setting, symbol and atmosphere as the elements of prose which reveal the motherhood theme. In analyzing the data, the writer used theory of Stanton (1965) as the main theory and Perrine (1970) and Wellek and Warren (1949) as the supporting theories. The writer also used Kartono’s (2007) idea to identify the motherhood in the whole sequences of the story. The result of this research shows that these short stories reflect the motherhood portrayed by the intrinsic elements such as character, plot, setting, symbol and atmosphere of the short stories. Both of these short stories have similarities in terms of the reflection of motherhood. The similarities are both characters of mother in the two short stories The Shawl and Two Kinds show their love through the softness, sacrifice, patience, and looking forward for the future. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research entitled “Preposition in Album Take Off Your Pants and Jacket by Blink 182” is written to classify and analyze the form as well as the function of the preposition found in the Album.  The writer uses a theory from Aarts and Aarts (1982) to classify the forms of preposition and analyze the function. The method used in this research is descriptive method, and the data were taken from the Album by Blink 182. The result of this research shows that in the album Take Off Your Pants And Jacket there are several forms and function of preposition in prepositional phrase. The forms are simple and complex preposition. The function of preposition in prepositional phrase refer to, preposition in prepositional phrase as prepositional constituents, preposition in prepositional phrase as postmodifier noun phrase and adjective phrase, and preposition in prepositional phrase as prepositional complement.
