Abstract

The Worawari Formation is a new name proposed in this paper, comprising Paleogene deep marine sediments and cropped out in the Banjarnegara and the surrounding area. The formation comprises turbidite deposits in the lower part, and upwards it develops into olistostrome deposits consisting of claystone matrix and boulders having tens meters in size, and comprising polimictic conglomerate, sandstone, and numulitic limestone. In the Gebyugan River, a small tributary of the Worawari River, the lower part of the Worawari Formation consists of siltstone and very fine to fine sandstone and claystone. These rocks contain abundantly fossils of radiolaria, bathysiphon, fish teeth and bentonic fossils suggesting a deep marine environmrent. Meanwhile, an exposure of alternating claystone and sandstone was found in Kali Tengah River, containing trace fossils of paleodicton type indicating a deep marine environment. Boulders of sandstone and polimictic conglomerate are found in Kali Tengah River and Kali Tulis River, while numulitic boulders are exposed in the upstream area of the Worawari River. The claystone containing boulders of various types of rock is interpreted to be olistostrome deposits. Keywords: Worawari Formation, Paleogene sediments, turbidites, olistostrome, deep marine, North Serayu Mountain

Abstract

Field data on the Central Flores Island, Eastern Indonesia (Sikka and Ende Regencies) together with chemical analyses allow us to discuss the prospect of mineral occurrences in this inner arc volcanic zone. Geologically, the area is dominated by Tertiary-Quaternary volcanic and sedimentary rocks, sitting unconformably on the siliceous sedimentary basement of Pre-Tertiary ages. The Tertiary volcanic rocks referred to as Kiro Formation consist of tuff, andesite lava, breccia and green tuff, while the sedimentary rocks are dominated by sandstone and claystone. The Pre-Tertiary basement rocks and the Kiro Formation were intruded by Late Miocene granite, granodiorite, diorite and andesite resulted in hydrothermal alteration and mineralization. The identified hydrothermal alteration includes chlorite, zeolite, kaolinite, jasper and silica. Ores deposits are represented by iron ore, manganese, gold, base metal and iron sands. Style of mineralization is disseminated features, cavity filling, replacement and veins. In general, quartz veins show vuggy, comb and bossa / bladed pseudomorph calcite texture. Sample analyses from quartz veins show that gold (Au) value ranges from 3 - 39 ppm, copper (Cu) : 15-133 ppm, lead (Pb) : 9 - 123 ppm, Zinc (Zn) : 7 - 31 ppm. Within silicified rocks, gold value ranges from <2 - 5 ppm, Cu : 6-546ppm, Pb : 28 - 1181 ppm, Zn : 18-3906 ppm. In contrast within altered rocks, Au : <2-55ppb, Cu : 9-199 ppm, Pb : 24 - 54 ppm, Zn: 40 - 142 ppm. The content of iron within ore veins range from 45.55 - 60.41%; manganese ranges from 231-8330 ppm (altered rock) and iron sands range from 4.22 - 50.83% magnetite. The result of the preliminary works in the area has been revealed that the Sikka and Ende Regencies could be traced for several mineral deposits occurrences such as epithermal, porphyry, skarn and volcanogenic massive sulfide of Kuroko type. Abstract

The landscape of Lubuksikaping and the surrounding area is belong to the Barisan Mountain Range. In general, it had been built up by Structural Ridge, Volcanic Cone Remnant, Volcanic Cone, Structural Valley and Alluvial Plain. Those landscapes are devided into landforms based upon their genetic. It is interested to know that the landform in the western part of Structure Valley is more complexes compared to that of the eastern part. The westernpart landform is composed of several land form such as Fault Scarpment, Volcanic Cone, Volcanic Cone Remnant, Denudated hilly structure), Aluvial Fan and Aluvial Plain, while in the eastern part, the landscape mostly consists of Denudational Hill. These mean that the western part of studied area is being more dynamic. Based on those data mentioned above, it can be deduced that the landscape of this region has been influenced by volcanic and regional and or local tectonic activities, as well as by weathering, erosion, and sedimentation processes Keywords: landscape, landform, regional tectonic, local tectonic

Abstract

Microfacies and diagenesis of limestones from the Nakfunu Formation have been studied to tracing the depositional mechanism and post depositional geological histories of the rocks. Limestone samples randomly taken from the field on the Cretaceous rock formation, for petrographic analysis. Petrogrtaphic analysis of the fourty two limestone samples showing that the type of the limestones are packstone, wackestone, and mudstone. The depositional environments of this formation are include basin margin, open sea shelf near the lower slope, and deep sea basin with slow sedimentation. The limestones have affected by various kinds of diagenetic proccesses post-sedimentation. The diagenetic procceses recorded under the polarization microscope as: cementation, replacement, silicification, recrystallization, dolomitization, compaction, fracturing, and dissolution. Keywords: Cretaceous, limestone, petrography, microfacies, diagenesis.

Abstract

Seismic monitoring around Bandung basin since 1999 - 2006 which has been carried out by the Seismological Laboratory, Geological Survey Institute, had recorded nine earthquakes. Epicentre location of the earthquakes indicated that the earthquakes are associated with the lineaments interpreted on landsat image. It is concluded that there are at least five active faults in this area such as Tanjungsari - Cileunyi, Lembang, Cicalengka, Jati and Legok Kole fault. Abstract

Research on structural geology to determine deformation periodes at the Aru Islands of Wokam Basin, Maluku have been done. Determaining the deformation periodes are approached by grouping the lineament structure and stress tensor analysis of bedding, joints, slicken side data which collected during fieldwork. The age of structural geology which formed at these area are reconstructed from stratigraphic relationship of deformed rocks. At Cenozoic, the deformation of Aru Islands, Maluku can be divided into three main periodes which have different characteristic and geological structures pattern. The first periode were started at Late Miocene where the Koba Formation had been deposited, the main stress direction was Northwest-Southeast and the stress tensor tend to pure strike-slip. The second periode occured after Manumbai Formation were deposited at Late Pleistocene, the main stress was extentional and yielded normal faults as fault reactivation. At B the third periode take place and generated North-South structural lineations. Keywords : deformation, Cenozoic, geological structures, AruIslands.

Abstract

Abstract

Volcanic arc in Maluku Sea area with relative north-south trend, in the North Arm of Sulawesi consists of Taguladong, Biaro, Bangka, Sangihe islands, and west part of Halmahera are Ternate, Makian, Kayoa and Tidore islands. Bouguer anomaly in this area shows the line patterns that trend to be north-south, in same direction of the pattern of the regional geological structures with the anomaly value range (-100 mGal until 260 mGal). Gravity modelling analysis indicate the presence of subduction beneath the islands of Halmahera is tilted to the east with a steep, while in the western part which is below the north arm of Sulawesi is not visible. Structure pattern of gravity analysis show strike slip fault system in the west part, and thrust fault in the east part that controlling volcanism activity in this area.Keyword:
