Abstract

Indonesia is a pluralistic country. Plurality, apart to become a wealth and pride, of course also be a crucial challenge. Multicultural education is an activity in developing human potential that is able to appreciate the wide range of differences and an effort to increase students' appreciation of the wisdom of the local culture. This paper is a literature review encouraging the multicultural education as an educational concept that is very urgent to be implemented in the education unit, given once occurred various problems of conflicts caused by cultural differences. This paper examines how the concept of multicultural education, multicultural education curriculum development in schools, the development of multicultural education in the school curriculum, and the role of multicultural education in improving the students' appreciation of the local cultural wisdom.

Abstract

Family as the first and the nearest environment has primary responsibility in the value of education to children. Parenting activities conducted by parents in the family is one form of educational process of cultural values ​​as a whole. The importance of multicultural education given to children early with the hope that the child is able to understand that in their environment and also in other environments are cultural diversity. The present article intends to provide an overview and ideas on family counseling in developing local knowledge in the mindset of children by conducting a literature review that looked at family counseling can become an alternative program to realize the love child of the local culture. There are two approaches to do in this case: 1). Individual approach or also called individual counseling which attempts to explore emotions, experiences and thoughts klien. 2). Family Conseling, discussion in families led by a family counselor.

Abstract

Indonesia is a multicultural country consisting of different tribes, languages ​​and religions. This diversity, on one hand, is one of the advantages and wealth of the nation that must be maintained. But on the other hand, this diversity can be a potential conflict in the midst of society. Therefore, the understanding of the motto of "bhineka tunggal ika" should be instilled to the young generation from an early age so that they can play a role in maintaining unity amid the pluralism of the nation. One effort that can be realized in order to respond to this problem is to implement the concept of multicultural education (multicultural education) in education in Indonesia. This article seeks to discuss the concept of multicultural education and its practice in education in Indonesia.

Abstract

The curriculum is a vehicle for learning dynamic that needs to be developed and assessed continually ongoing in accordance with the existing developed community. The teacher’s role in the implementasi 2013, namely: a) the teacher haddiscussions in the process of preparation of the RPP; b) teachers write lesson plans through appropriate measure; c) teachers carry out a detailed study; d) the teacher as a facilitator; e) teachers provide character education; f) teachers guide students in learning in accordance with a scientific approach; g) teacher choose and use methods, media, and a variety of learning resources; h) teacher conduct authentic assesment; i) the teacher chooses and using valuation technique vary.

Abstract

Values covers everything assumed meaningful for someone’s life in which its considerations are based on the quality of true-false, good-bad, or beautiful-unbeautiful and its orientation is anthropocentric or theocentric. The scope of values taught in formal education is indeed large; therefore the process of realizing the values can run integrally in the educational process. The educational attempts in term of intra-curricular, extracurricular or school’s cultural atmosphere is a place where the values can be integrally implemented in the educational process. The value education is very good to be implanted since the early ages as the prevention of value conflict due to differences in identity, gender, ethnicity, race, and culture. Therefore, value education through multicultural learning should be intensified and as the main subject is elementary school students. With this they are expected to be ready to live in harmony peace and harmony.

Abstract

Peace is one of the main teachings in Islam. As a holy book, the Qur'an and the Bible, the guidelines for its adherents to always love the peace. In both scriptures contains many verses that tell people to continue to realize peace on earth. Nevertheless it can not be denied that in both books also revealed verses about war. In this paper the author seeks to explain how the concept of peace in the perspective of the Qur'an and the Bible. The author only describes the concept of peace in the Qur'an as a holy book for Muslims and the Bible as the guidebook of Christians. This article concludes that to achieve that peace, there must be an awareness of religious plurality by respecting the existence of another religion which is of great importance in the religious context in Indonesia which is composed of various religions.

Abstract

Indonesia is a multicultural country, because it consists of various cultures, customs, and a variety of habits. These components are generally bonded together (integrated/embedded) with ethnicity, language, and culture. The use of foreign languages, especially English, in all its forms is related teaching foreign languages in formal and informal education in Indonesia. Even some foreign language has been introduced on early childhood. Seeing this phenomenon, educators must have a knowledge of foreign languages, willingness and skills to introduce and involve all educate into a global context. The introduction and engagement multicultural (cross-cultural disposition) that should be conducted transformative or practical experience (cross-cultural encounter) in learning English language, such as a fairytale. The multicultural approach in English learning by fairytale on early childhood will make the children more tolerant the other cultures.

Abstract

Multicultural education needs to be nurtured both in formal and non-formal education because of Indonesia's cultural potential, tradition, and geographical environment, and demographics is remarkable. Education has a major role to play in promoting multicultural understanding. The cultivation of such understanding should be carried out as early as possible, so that it will continue to be constructed in the cognition of the child's sense of ownership and pride of the nation's culture until he grows up so that a democratic and egalitarian attitude will emerge to accept cultural diversity. To achieve that, the strategy of multicultural education development is needed. Multicultural education development strategies that can be undertaken, ie curriculum development, professional quality improvement of educational staff, development of education management systems, development of higher education system, equality of community perception, inculcation of recognition and appreciation of diversity (culture or culture, ethnicity, race, Religion, worldview and so on), avoiding views that assume that one group is superior to the other, and fosters and accustoms to a dialogical attitude.
