Abstract

Shark fishing activity is an economically important activity because sharks are the target fish for export purposes. Sharks are consumed by their fins dan flesh. The relatively high demand demand for shark exports with low reproduction characteristics makes sharks more vulnerable to population threats. In managing sharks fishery, biological aspect are supporting things as a reference for management actions. The study aims to describe the fishing characteristic of shark (Rhizoprionodon taylori), length to weight relationship, length distribution, and sex ratio. Sharks are more susceptible to population risks because of the relatively high demand for shark exports and their lack of reporting characteristics. Biology plays a supportive role in shark management by serving as a point of reference for management efforts. This study attempts to describe the length-to-weight relationship, length distribution, and sex ratio of the shark (Rhizoprionodon taylori) as they relate to fishing. The collection and capture of biological data took place between February and August of 2022. TPI Dermaga Barat Pelabuhan Perikanan Samedera Nizam Zachman (PPSNZ), Muara Baru, North Jakarta, is where the fish used for the fish samples were landed. Biology fish samples data were weighed, fork length and  sex. At sizes ranging from 38.6 cm to 43 cm and a negative allometric development trend, the long shark (Rhizopodon taylori) predominates. 94% of the sampled fish were female, showing that female fish predominate in the catch. It will decrease fish stocks that can reproduce, which will result in lower recruitment in the waters, if the capture is consistently dominated by female fish. Abstract

Di perairan Indonesia ditemukan tujuh spesies ikan Sidat, yaitu A. marmorata, A. celebesensis, A. borneensis, A. bicolor bicolor, A. bicolor pacifica, A. interioris dan A. nebulosa. Sedangkan nilai jarak genetik tertinggi yaitu antar A. mossambica dan A. celebesensis (11,4%). Abstract

Riau Islands Province has a larger water area than its land. This large water area then began to be managed with the establishment of a conservation area known as the Bintan Island Eastern Waters Tourism Park. The vast waters in the Riau Islands are thought to also have high diversity, one of which is Elasmobranchii species. The purpose of this study is to identify the species diversity and conservation status of Elasmobranchii from the catches landed by local fishermen in Bintan Island Eastern Waters Tourism Park. The method used in this study is a survey method, which is descriptive to determine the description of the results of the identification of species diversity and conservation status of Elasmobranchii. From the results of this study, 12 species and 8 families of 72 Elasmobranchii individuals were identified, with a diversity index value of H' = 2.21 (medium), uniformity index E = 0.89 (very good), and dominance index C = 0.14 (low) or no dominating species. From the conservation status analysis, it was found that 42% or 5 out of 12 Elasmobranchii species were categorized as Vulnerebel, 25% (3 species) were categorized as endangered and 8% (1 species) were categorized as critically endangered, 75% of Elasmobranchii species landed at the study site had a decreasing population status.   Keywords: Bintan, Elasmobranchii, Diversity, Conservation

Abstract

ABSTRACT The coastal waters of Banyuasin are shallow marine waters directly connected to the Bangka Strait. The waters are drained by several large rivers and many small rivers, and the movement of water masses is influenced by tidal activity. Sea surface temperature as one of the physical factors of water is important to study considering its role can be used as an indicator of water quality, an indicator of the habitat of aquatic organisms, as well as a basis for studying climate change and several physical processes in the ocean, such as upwelling and fronts. This research aims to map the spatio-temporal distribution of sea surface temperature. The methods used are the remote sensing method and field surveys using image data in 2022–2023. The results showed that there are differences in the distribution of sea surface temperature both spatially and temporally. In the western season, also known as the western season, the temperature range is found in the range of 27.77–29.88 oC. In the first transitional season, the temperature range is 27.39–31.56 oC; the temperature distribution in the eastern season ranges from 30.13–33.89 oC; and the temperature range in the second transitional season is 24.47–30.37 oC. The highest sea surface temperatures occur in the eastern season, and these highest temperatures are lower in the western season. The spatial distribution of sea surface temperature is generally lower in coastal waters in the west and transition II seasons and higher in the transition I and east seasons.
