Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of demographic factors on air emissions in Indonesia. Demographic factors used in this study were population density, education level, and urbanization rate. Air emissions are measured with carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions as proxies. Theoretically, population density and urbanization levels have a positive effect on air emissions, while technology has a negative effect on air emissions. The analysis technique used is multiple regression using Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method. The results of this study indicate that population density and level of education affect air emissions in accordance with the proposed theory but the level of education does not significantly affect air emissions in Indonesia. Population density, urbanization level, and education level simultaneously affect air emissions in Indonesia. Keywords: air emissions, population density, education, urbanization,JEL Classification: J11, Q53

Investment is one of the factors affecting economic growth. International trade and stock market developmnet is one of the factors of economic growth for developed countries, while ASEAN 3 is criticized as a developing country. The purpose of this research is to know the causal relationship between international trade and economic growth. And know the causal relationship between growth of stock market with economic growth in ASEAN 3. This study variables of international trade, stock market growth, and economic growth. The data used are annual panel data from 2000 to 2015. Using Granger causality analysis. The results of the study show a bidirectional linkage between international trade and economic growth and there is no mutual relationship between stock market growth and economic growth in ASEAN 3. Keywords: Economic Growth, International Trade, Stock Market Growth, Granger CausalityJEL classification : C23, F15, O1

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the price change and volatility of strategic food commodities and the influence to inflation in Banda Aceh City. Food commodities in this study are restricted to rice, onion, red chili, and small chili. To identify the existance of strategic food commodities’ price volatility, this study uses ARCH/GARCH model. Then, this study uses further analysis by using multiple regression to know the influence of strategic food commodities’ price change and volatility to inflation in Banda Aceh City. The result of ARCH-LM test shows that price volatility is existed in the price change of rice and onion. Then, result of multiple resgression estimation shows that the price change of rice, onion, red chili, and small chili significantly have positive influence to inflation in Banda Aceh City. Price volatility of rice and onion insignificantly influent to inflation in Banda Aceh City. Thus, government should protect the price stabilty of strategic food commodities, especially rice, onion, red chili, and small chili in order to keep in mild inflation. Abstract

The purpose of study is to analyze the relationship and influence revenue (PAD) to the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). This study sampled in 2010 until 2013 the 10 areas that have the highest economic growth rate and the 10 areas that have the lowest economic growth rate. The method used is correlation and regression test panel data random effects (random effect of panel regression). Data sourced from documents retrieved and Government Finance Statistics District / City in 2009 - 2013. From the research, there is evidence that there is a positive relationship between the PAD and the GDP. Local Revenue (PAD) in the region with the highest economic growth rate has a significant effect on the GDP. However, these results inversely in the region with the lowest economic growth rate which the PAD no significant effect on the GDP.Keyword: PAD, PDRB

Abstract

Most ASEAN countries are categorized as an agrarian country where most of the population lives in agriculture. Agriculture in ASEAN is one of the mainstay sectors and has a direct role in national development. However, the condition of agricultural production in ASEAN is always fluctuating. This study aims to determine the level of agricultural productivity in ASEAN. Variables used in this study are agricultural value added, land area, labor and fertilizer consumption. Data analysis used in this research is Stochastic frontier analysis model (SFA) with logarithm model of linear frontier and trancedental logarithm of fixed effect and random effect to know production efficiency level. Consistently Malaysia and Vietnam are the countries that have the highest level of productivity than any other country from 2002-2014. In addition, based on the amount of sumbangsi, the area of land becomes the variable that gives the highest contribution of agricultural productivity in ASEAN.Keywords : Productivity, Agriculture, ASEAN

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the role of social capital in improving household welfare. This study was conducted on households in the Lambu sub-district with an analytical method using probit and Tobit models, as well as a two-way causality relationship between the welfare model and social capital using the TSLS approach. The results of the study show that only bridging capital has an impact on increasing household welfare, due to the complexity of the heterogeneous interactions within it. While bonding capital is only on homogeneous community interactions so that it is less effective in increasing welfare, as well as capital linking which tends to produce distribution bias. The heads of households with more unmarried status are below the poverty line and tend to be active in bridging capital. They are aware that they must be involved in heterogeneous communities to improve their welfare, while married/divorced households tend to be above the poverty line and spend more time in the workplace than active in community activities. Keywords: Bonding capital, bridging, linking, household status, depth of poverty

Abstract

Unemployment still becomes one of social important problems in Indonesia that needs more attention, including in Central Java. One factor that affects the unemployment rate is educa-tion. Education is a gateway for people to improve their living standards through the worklife. Moreover, education will improve the quality of human resources themselves. This study tries to analyze unemployment in the context of spatial distribution to understand wheter or not there is spatial pattern of unemployment in Central Java. Descriptive analysis results indicate that there is a regional grouping of high open unemployment rates in Central Java, which is located in the western part of the province. The modeling results show that the Spatial Auto-regressive Model is appropriate to illustrate the effect of the independent relationship on the dependent variable. The model estimation results conclude that people (in the percentage of population) who have never / not yet attended school have positive effect on the open unem-ployment rates. While people (in percentage) who cannot read and write and the literacy rate of poor people aged 15-55 years have negative effect on the open unemployment rates. The results of this study can be a reference for the government in focusing its main policies on education and employment in Central Java. Keywords: education, spatial autoregressive model, unemploymenJEL Classification: C21, E24, I25
