Abstract

This study investigates the determinants of employee satisfaction within a public sector institution in an emerging economy context, focusing on the Department of Youth, Sports, and Tourism in Balikpapan, Indonesia. Specifically, it examines the influence of motivation, work environment, and work discipline on employee satisfaction. Employing a quantitative approach, the research surveyed the entire population of 46 civil servants using a census method. Data were collected through observation, structured interviews, and standardized questionnaires, then analyzed using multiple linear regression with SmartPLS software. The findings reveal that both motivation and work environment have a positive and significant impact on employee satisfaction, indicating that intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors as well as conducive workplace conditions are critical to enhancing job fulfillment in public institutions. Conversely, work discipline shows a negative and statistically insignificant effect on employee satisfaction, suggesting that disciplinary measures alone may not contribute meaningfully to job satisfaction without complementary motivational and environmental support. These results provide empirical insights for human resource management practices in local government agencies, particularly in the context of developing regions. The study contributes to the literature on public administration and organizational behavior by highlighting context-specific factors influencing employee well-being in the public sector.

Abstract

The digital era and globalization have created increasingly complex market landscapes where understanding consumer motivation becomes crucial for organizations seeking competitive advantage. This research aims to comprehensively map and analyze the intellectual structure of the research domain exploring consumer motivation's role in shaping behavioral intentions through systematic bibliometric analysis. The study employs a quantitative bibliometric approach utilizing advanced scientometric techniques to examine large-scale bibliographic data, with secondary data comprising 250 scientific articles extracted from Scopus and Google Scholar databases covering publications from 2018 onwards. The PRISMA framework was implemented for structured article selection, while VOSviewer software facilitated comprehensive bibliometric analysis through co-authorship networks, keyword co-occurrence mapping, citation analysis, and thematic clustering. Network analysis reveals that intrinsic and extrinsic motivation remain central nodes dominating the research landscape, with Self-Determination Theory maintaining its position as the dominant theoretical framework. The findings demonstrate significant interdisciplinary integration, with concepts from cognitive psychology, social psychology, and organizational psychology converging within unified theoretical frameworks. Temporal analysis indicates research evolution from traditional utility-focused approaches toward more holistic perspectives integrating hedonic, social, and symbolic motivations. The study identifies emerging themes including sustainable consumption, collaborative consumption, and prosocial motivation, reflecting contemporary societal concerns and digital transformation impacts on consumer behavior, ultimately contributing to advancing theoretical understanding by providing comprehensive overview of knowledge structure evolution and identifying convergence points across disciplines.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of performance appraisal on employee performance, with job satisfaction as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method involving 161 private sector employees from three major districts in South Kalimantan Province. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that performance appraisal does not have a significant direct effect on employee performance but does significantly affect job satisfaction. Job satisfaction also has a significant impact on employee performance and mediates the relationship between performance appraisal and employee performance. These findings suggest that a well-designed performance appraisal system can enhance job satisfaction, which in turn positively influences employee performance. The practical implications of this study highlight the importance of organizations designing performance appraisal systems that not only assess but also develop employees. Theoretically, this study reinforces the understanding of the mediating role of job satisfaction in the relationship between performance appraisal and employee performance and contributes to the advancement of human resource management practices.

Abstract

Green Human Resources Management (GHRM) is a Human Resources Management approach that emphasizes environmentally friendly practices in the recruitment, training, evaluation, and development of employees. Green Discipline, Green Work Environment, and Green Performance are current topics in GHRM, while Environmental Purpose as a motivation strengthens the mediation pathway. The purpose of this study is to find out how work behavior consisting of Green Discipline, Green Work Environment, and Environmental Purpose can improve Green Performance while supporting the principles of Green Human Resources. The research method used is a quantitative approach, with 183 employees of PT. Indolakto East Java as the research object. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires. The analysis techniques used is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The Results of this study prove that a model that integrates Green Discipline, Green Work Environment, and Environmental Purpose is a comprehensive approach to encourage Green Performance.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of heuristic biases, specifically overconfidence bias, availability bias, and representativeness bias on investment decisions among Generation Z investors in Indonesia, with risk tolerance serving as a mediating variable. The research replicates and extends previous models by incorporating representativeness bias into the framework. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed to 208 respondents who met the specified sampling criteria. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS software. The results indicate that availability bias, representativeness bias, and risk tolerance have a significant positive effect on investment decisions, while overconfidence bias does not directly influence them. Additionally, overconfidence bias, availability bias, and representativeness bias significantly affect risk tolerance. The mediation analysis shows that risk tolerance mediates the relationship between availability bias and representativeness bias with investment decisions, but does not mediate the relationship between overconfidence bias and investment decisions. These findings highlight the significant role of cognitive biases and risk tolerance in shaping the investment behavior of Generation Z investors in Indonesia. The study contributes to behavioral finance literature by providing evidence on how psychological factors and cognitive tendencies influence financial decision making.

Abstract

Muna Regency is a regency in Southeast Sulawesi Province whose economy relies heavily on agriculture. Corn is one of the main commodities of Muna Regency. One of the phenomena faced by farmers is the lack of working capital for farming. The Muna Regency Agriculture Office initiated the formation of a business institution in the form of a cooperative that functions primarily as a savings and loan institution. Farmers throughout Muna Regency become members of the cooperative and receive priority for capital loans. This proposal is certainly an innovation from the agriculture office to improve the standard of living of farmers. Of course, this institution is expected to channel working capital to farmers in Muna Regency. To form a reliable cooperative, a BMC (Business Model Canvas) study is needed to run it as an independent and sustainable cooperative.
