Abstract

This reseach aims to determine the relationship between the number of parity of children with the incidence of cervical cancer in Dr. Pirngadi Medan 2012. The study was conducted in January 2013 in Dr. Pirngadi Medan. Materials in this study using medical colleagues data that is cervical cancer patients who come checked in RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Medan Year 2011-2012. The research method is done by analytical descriptive. The samples in this study were cervical cancer patients taken from medical record data at RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Medan Year 2011-2012. The results of the study were obtained by the largest KLR patients in the parity of more than 2 children (multiparas) (70.2%), then grandemultipara (26.9) and primipara (2.9%). Result of correlation of multipara relationship with cervical cancer stage obtained R value (18,23%), and grandemultipara with cervical cancer stage R value (0,92%). Regression results obtained by multiparous and grandemultipara positive and significant sign of cervical cancer incidence, which means multiparous and grandemultipara is not a determining factor of cervical cancer.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the presence of the bacterium Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella sp. in carrying medicinal sold on the five areas in the city of Medan. This study was conducted descriptive of the results of bacterial contamination in carrying medicinal by the number of 20 samples of 5 herbalist carrying in different areas in the city of Medan. The sampling sites are the Menteng area, with a total population carrying medicinal sellers there are 5 people, Literacy area 5, area Tembung 4 people, Sunggal area 3 and area Sei Sekambing 3. Test results Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella sp. at 5 locations showed negative results and the results of the Total Plate Count 102 at location A (Menteng), namely 3, location B (Traditional), namely 5, the location is C (Tembung) ie 4, the location of D (Sunggal) ie 8 and Area E (Sei Sikambing) is 5. the confirmation test results using BGLB media to determine the negative results (no gas formation) and media testing with Mac-Conkey to grow colonies of pink. On the positive Sunggal local herbal samples contaminated with bacteria coli and other microbial species are not found. This contamination as a result of the manufacturing process that is less attention to elements of sanitation and hygiene as well as the contamination of air at the time of sale and packaging.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine whether there is a relationship of senile cataract with blood sugar levels for people with diabetes who checked in BKIM (Balai Kesehatan Indera Masyarakat) Medan. Research was done through two stages, blood sampling and examination of blood glucose levels and data analysis. The patients blood is taken at any time from the patients fingertip. Data were analyzed calculated the correlation relationship where the cataract as the parameters x and y are the blood sugar levels. Correlation calculation results indicate the number r = 0:46, which means there is less close relationship between cataracts and blood sugar levels but percentages show increased in the percent of patients with both cataracts relation to blood sugar levels as well as cataracts with age. From a study of 60 patients aged 45-65 years who suffer from cataracts are less significant association between cataract with blood sugar levels.

Abstract

Activator that has been successfully used in the process of activation of activated carbon from coconut shell is Na2CO3, NaCl, HCl, H2SO4 and NaOH. The addition of activator in the activated charcoal will enlarge the surface area of the charcoal with open pores are closed, so as to increase the adsorption capacity of activated carbon. In the process of making activated carbon from coconut shell charcoal, carbon obtained randemen quite high, ranging from 80 to 81.74 wt% of carbon initially obtained with water content ranging from 2.2864 to 3.9489% and ash content of 2.04 to 3.28%. This means that the active carbon can be used as an activated carbon is good, because it meets the standards SII quality activated carbon. From the results obtained can be seen that the solution of HCl, NaOH and Na2CO3 can be used as an activator of activated carbon in the lower levels of peroxide. The addition of these activators can enlarge the surface area of the carbon that is by breaking the bonds of hydrocarbons or oxidizing surface molecules. Based on the research results, the best solution is used as an activator of activated carbon in adsorbing peroxide is an alkaline solution that is equal to 91.11% of the initial peroxide content.

Abstract

This reseach aims to know the contamination of plastic materials that exist in market snacks (fried banana, fried tempe, fried tofu and bakwan goreng) that circulated in Medan City. This research uses the method of "Qualitative Description" that is by checking the plastic content in market snacks (gorengan) circulating in Medan City. The results of this study contained 12 positive samples contaminated with plastic materials and 48 samples were not contaminated with plastic materials. Plastic contaminated samples are tested by burning, if positive samples containing plastics will burn and a large flame is visible, black droplets and smell of burning plastic.

Abstract

This reseach aims to determine the presence of Salmonella sp. In chicken meat sold in both markets. The study was conducted by taking samples of chicken meat in each market as much as 50 grams. In the Sukaramai market, samples were taken from three locations, namely location I, II, III and one location from Carrefour supermarket. The bacteria contamination test was performed by counting the number of bacteria each sample with Plat Count Agar (PCA) method, each sample was diluted and cultured on 10-1 dilution. Deuteronomy is done four times. Then proceed with biochemical test. The results showed that all four samples of Salmonella sp. From Sukaramai traditional market contaminated with pathogen bacteria with the average amount of Salmonella as much as 1.7 X 102 from the overall location I, II, and III and also found contaminant bacteria that can be a pathogen while from Carrefour supermarkets not found Salmonella.

Abstract

The title of  this study is the utilization of chitosan from shellfish waste as water purifier. The purpose of the study is to utilize coagulant of shellfish waste in water treatment proes into clear water. The research variabel are the concentration of chitosan 1,3,5,7, and 9 g/l. The particle size of chitosan used in this research is 150 mesh. The time consume  8 hours for purification process. The result showed that 9 g/l chitosan shell waste is effective to water purification process. At a concentration of 9 g/l. Chitosan shellfish waste can produce clean water in complianee with health minister No. 416/MENKES/PER/IX/1990 about  water quality treatment.
