The development of sharia tourism has a multidimensional impact. One of them is employment and poverty alleviation, especially in Ponorogo, considering that is the 11th largest city contributing to Indonesian migrant workers. The development of the sharia tourism business is increasingly attractive, because the Ponorogo community is a pluralistic society, which embraces a variety of cultures, religions and creeds. So that the role of local government as a leading sector is needed to determine the planning and development of regional sharia tourism. For that we need the right strategy in the development of Islamic tourism in accordance with the characteristics of Ponorogo. In the formulation of the right strategy, data from Muslim, non-Muslim and local government communities is needed. The data is analyzed by the SWOT technique which is supported by internal and external factors. With the result has the potential in the development of sharia tourism considering there are still many natural tourism objects that have not been touched and developed by the community or local government. The development of Islamic tourism is approved by Muslim, non-Muslim communities, while maintaining their respective religious sites. The issues of terrorism and radicalism emerge in almost all countries in the world. Acts of violence based on intolerance - religious, cultural, social- bring drastic consequences and often lead to a humanitarian crisis. Hate narratives, drastic changes of social order, poverty, and injustices influence people, especially youth, to be easily attracted by radical ideology. As a result, destructing church and other worship places, even killing non-Muslims become massive agendas held systematically and planned as the name of jihad. The wrong way to understanding Islam supporting peace and tolerance brings extremist people to have a perception that non-Muslim blood is halal. As a country with Muslims as the majority society, Indonesia needs to do comprehensive and systematic agendas to prevent young generations from radical ideology. Pesantrens as a reliable Islamic institution that have played significant roles in promoting peace and tolerance since many years ago need to have innovative ways to promote world peace. This study aimed to explore the role of a Pesantren in Jombang to promote world peace through conducting an international interfaith event namely ASEAN Youth Interfaith Camp involving 94 youths from many countries. This study was qualitative research using interview, observation and document analysis as tools to gather data. This study found that the Pesantren promote world peace through an international event involving credible speakers, and bringing the participants to visit some religious places and meeting various religious adherents. This paper hopefully could be an inspiration for other pesantrens in promoting world peace.

Islam is a religion of compassion. This fact is different from the majority of followers who translate it in all segments of life in a formalistic form, so that the compassionate identity of Islam is often mortgaged. Islam is exclusive with other religions and beliefs. As a result, Islam is also difficult to expand and accused of being a rigid and exclusive religion. Islam that was born and developed in the archipelago practiced by Walisongo is flexible with other beliefs. One of its practices Walisongo succeeded in taking inspiration from the Hinduism of the Hindu Nawa Dewata to become Sufistic trustees. The nine deities in Hinduism were replaced by nine saints who later became known as Walisongo. Through Walisongo's da'wah analysis Islamizing other religions, namely theological approach, games and cultural accuracy, it was found that the change in cosmology of Nawa Dewata became Walisongo because in Islam and Hinduism both contained values of compassion, compassion, and intertwining among creatures God. The saints carried out the takeover by prioritizing three main principles, namely prioritizing the interests of the community over him, compassion as the concept of a human unity with God, and an emotional approach. All three make Islam easily understood as a religion of affection, so that it is easily accepted by Hindus.
