Nike fish (Awaous melanocephalus) is a tiny-kind of fish harvested lunar-monthly in the estuary of BoneBolangoRiver in the City of Gorontalo. The fishing activity is showing steady increase recently as thecommodity finds its way to the international market. Fishermen are putting more efforts by escalating thecatching capacity of their gears. Meanwhile, mercury used by the artisanal and small-scale gold mining(ASGM) in the headwaters for amalgamation put another aspect to the A. melanocephalus fishery whenit wasted into the river down to the estuary. This paper describes A. melanocephalus fishery and thethreat of mercury contamination in the habitat and the fish itself. Field research was conducted in theestuary of Bone-Bolango River to observe the technology and methods of A. melanocephalus fishing.Samples of water and fish were taken for mercury content examination with Atomic AbsorptionSpectrophotometer (AAS). Secondary data on production and distribution were obtained fromgovernment offices. The result showed that the water and A. melanocephalus samples contain mercuryat levels exceeding the quality standards determined by government. The aim of the study was to reveal spatial-temporal distribution of the blue swimming crab(Portunus pelagicus Linnaeus 1758) in terms of size and gonad maturity stage of both male andfemale. Sampling of crab was conducted with a gill net from April 2013 until March 2014 inLasongko Bay. Of the whole population the mean size of male was smaller than that of females.Spatially smaller crabs (juveniles and young ones) inhabited mostly inner side of the bay, whilemedium size crabs occurred in the middle part of the bay. Big crabs were mostly found in theouter side of the bay. In terms of time, big sise of male and female crabs were collected inperiod of October to November and September to March, respectively. Small size of male andfemale occurred in February to September and in April, respectively. Related to gonad maturity, the sizes of both sexes with mature stages were variable. Ovigerous female (OF) was presencewidely in the bay, but the size of ovigerous females living in the shallow part of the bay wassmaller than those living in the deeper part. Lake Kelapa Gading is an artificial lake located in Asahan district of North Sumatra province. Thepurpose of this study was to determine: 1) description of conditions of temperature, dissolved oxygenand pH vertically in the water for 24 hours, 2) production and consumption of oxygen in the waters ofLake Kelapa Gading. The study was conducted in March-April 2016 with preliminary and mainresearch activities. There are three observation stations are stations 1 (near KJA), station 2 (the areanear the settlement) and station 3 (outlet). The measured temperature ranges from 30-35 ºC.dissolved oxygen highest in the surface waters of 5.12 mg / l during the afternoon and the lowestoccurred at a depth of compensation of 0.64 mg / l when the weather is rainy. The measured pHvalue ranging between 6-9. In general there is a decrease in temperature, dissolved oxygen, and pHwith increasing depth. The highest percent saturation of 71.30 % in the surface waters. Comparisonbetween photosynthesis to respiration indicates that there has been a deficit in respiration is greaterthan the value of photosynthesis. dissolved oxygen concentration has reached a deficit at a depth of36.5 cm to reach at night. Keywords: dissolved oxygen, lake, pH, saturation, temperature.

This research aims to investigate the influence of Ketapang (Terminalia catappa) bark extract (KBE) on the survival rate and liver histopathology of Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) which was Infected by Aeromonas hydrophilia. Experimental design with Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Obtained data were analyzed by using Analysis of Varian (ANOVA) and further Least Significant Differed (LSD) analysis. The main parameters in this research are the damage level of Common carp liver based on scoring value and survival rates. Based on the result from scoring data, it was shown that there is altered-histology on Common carp fish liver. The damages found were congestion, melanomacrofag, and necrosis. In average, treatment A (730 ppm) had the highest damage average while treatment C (770 ppm) had the lowest damage average value. The final result shows that the bigger the dose, the lower the damage. In contrast, the survival rates would decrease with the higher dose of KBE. It can be concluded that KBE able to reduce the liver alteration however in some extend it will cause the mortality. Keywords : common carp, histopathology, ketapang, liver, survival rate.

Sedimentation on Pare bay and Karajae estuary originated from the run off of Karajae River. Highsedimentation process leads to the adverse effect of abiotic environmental changes. The aim of thisresearch is to analyse bathymetry condition and hydrodynamic characteristics of the area inunderstanding sediment distribution on Pare Bay. Corrected bathymetric data by tide data isprocessed using Surfer software 9.0 versions to analyse Pare Bay contour in 2D and 3D, the resultshow depth ranges from 0 to 20 meters. Flow model module by MIKE 21 software was used inhydrodynamic simulation (MRSE 11.44%) and shows that current condition in Pare Bay wasdominated by tidal (within its speed up to 0.43 ms-1), surface currents speed is higher and morerandom than the speed in water column and near bottom. Due to its location, Pare Bay is directlyinfluenced by Indonesian Through flow which has strong currents flow and cause mixing andturbulence along its way, this condition influences Pare Bay condition, especially in the process ofsedimentation and turbulence.
