Abstract

Centhini is one of the suluk literatures; its main doctrine isto reach the “perfect of life”, that is the unity of human being andGod. The ways to reach the “perfect of life” by syariat, tarekat, hakikat, and ma’rifat as them said by Seh Amongraga does not asomething new, because of which has been dealt with in theprimbon that came from XVI century and Hamzah Fansuri. Salatand dzikir and breath-ordering in Centhini are the means forhuman beings to get unity to God. It appears that dzikir in theconnection to breath-ordering is an indication of universal way inmysticism that be able find out in all religions. Double function ofSeh Amongraga who gave by authors essentially has a mission tomake harmony of religion and Javanese tradition, that is thetradition of Seh Siti Jenar, Sunan Panggung, Ki Bebeluk, and SehAmongraga with Islam that purely legalistic.

Abstract

Science and religion, in their early development, came fromthe same resources and had the same purpose—human survival inthe universe. However, gradually, science separate from religionafter it found some method that made it established as thediscipline. Now, science is really different from religion in manyaspects, among other things: rationality, method, purpose, and theway in which they see realities. God was excluded from thescience. Religious argument does not sufficient for science.Although they different, it does not mean that they have no ameeting point in human civilization. Science, to a certain extent, isable to make religious understanding more rational and openminded. So also religion, to a certain extent, is able to makescience more near to its purpose, as it determined before—to makehuman being survive and happy in the universe. Therefore, scienceand religion are complementary to one another.

Abstract

The sections fall into some sections. The first one isintroduction to Rawls theoretical issues on politics especially onwhat is called PR. The misconceptions of Rawls thought held bysome religious believers will be dealt with explicitly. I will, then, try to explain that Rawls reflective equilibrium leaves room fordistinctively religious beliefs based on faith and religions. And, theoverlapping consensus which is crucial Rawls later thought. Based on this explanation above I come to second sectionthat deals with Indonesia’s political issues that is related toPancasila as a common ground. The issue is mainly on therelationship between religion and state in a highly diversitybackground especially diversity in religions. This section isremarkably important to see various ideologies took dialecticalprocess in its historical footprints. And, I come to third section. In this way, I will produce thepossibility of Pancasila as PR. Some frequent critical questionsresponding PR from the opposing groups will also be answeredclearly. In the final section, then, I try to give the explanation onreligion, as a comprehensive doctrine, should play a role inpolitical arena that in the light of Rawls’ PR.

Abstract

Discourse on gerder equality in Islam has so far been ahermeneutical debate. This is because there are at least twomethods of interpretation: the first is interpretation as recollectionof meaning and the second is interpretation as exercise ofsuspicion. Unfortunately, these two methods have always beenbrought into conflict with each other. As a result, this situationhinders the possibility of arriving at a model of interpretation thatis elegant but still compatible with the spirit of Al Quran. In fact, what be done is to adopt the positive aspects of each method. Inthis way, it will be possible to generate a model of interpretationthat is democratic and contextual, so that religion truly becomes asystem of faith and worship which has great respect for variousgender issues.

Abstract

There are two main issues in this article, namely: firstly, isabout major distinction of the concept of knowledge truth inphilosophy and religion, and, secondly, is about relation betweenphilosophy and religion. In the first issue, it is mentioned thatalthough philosophy and religion are similarly in creation normstruth and false, but the both are differently in determining itscriteria.  Religion, on the side, determines these criteria based onwahyu (revelation), so it results the true or absolute truth. On otherside, philosophy determines these criteria based on aql (reason), soit results the speculative or relative truth. While in the secondissue, the article explains that to seek the truth of knowledge or thetrue knowledge, so philosophy can used really as a good tool toexplain and support religion position. Whereas religion can used asa source to inspirited fervent and true philosophical thinking. Pointof intersection of the both is its position in the same matter, namely: “the Ultimate Reality”. However, distinction of the both isnot site in that matter of intersection, but it site in the way ormethod to research it.
