Abstract

The Borowetan site has only been exposed in a small part, which is a brick structure on the east side. So that through this data, it is very difficult to reveal its historical background, especially when it is related to the history of the ancient Mataram kingdom. Although this site is located close to the discovery of the Kayu Ara Hiwang inscription, it is still difficult to relate it to the inscription. In the inscription, it is mentioned that there is a sacred building complex (parhyangan) that must be cared for by the villagers of Kayu Ara Hiwang. However, the sacred building is located in Pariwutan. If it is true that Pariwutan is now Pulutan Village which is in Ngombol District - as said by MM Sukarto K. Atmodjo - it means that the brick structure is not part of a sacred building as mentioned in the Kayu Ara Hiwang inscription.

Abstract

Changes in the value and meaning of Baluntang can occur due to several factors, such as the incorporation of old beliefs (Kaharingan) in Hinduism. This amalgamation had an impact on their behavior towards old traditional rituals. Even though in reality they still carry out the old traditional rituals, the implementation of these ceremonies is merely routine as a manifestation of their respect for their ancestors. With such conditions and backgrounds, in their hearts there is a considerable inner conflict between respecting their ancestors and obeying the new religious teachings.

Abstract

Science requires discipline and this in turn is governed by ethics. Scientific ethics is needed in the three aspects of scientific science, namely teaching, research, and the application of science. Research ethics must have started to be considered since the research was prepared and only ended after the results of the research were published. This description will briefly discuss research ethics at each stage of the research.

Abstract

Geomorphologically, Sambisari Temple site is located on the alluvial plain at the foot of Mount Merapi, so that the land is fertile, it is easy to get water and the land is suitable for living and farming. This reason is very possible for the construction of temples. However, because then the area where the site was covered by volcanic ash as a result of the eruption of Mount Merapi which was very powerful due to the combination of the three tectonic, gravitational and volcanic forces that caused the volcanic cone of Merapi to flow sunken hyperbolic faults. This results in the level of soil fertility around the Sambisari Temple Site decreasing and even becoming damaged, because based on the soil material the sediment comes from the main material of lava deposits and fluvial deposits resulting from cleavage of pyroclastic materials from the eruption of Merapi Volcano in the form of boulder, gravel, sand, and dust. While the development of the soil around the Sambisari Site is still in the initial stage which is a type of horizon regosol soil and this soil has not experienced horizon differentiation, so that the soil profile is homogeneous. Such soil properties can be observed through the texture of dusty sand to gravel dust.

Abstract

Regarding the archaeological remains in the form of Fort Rotterdam in Makassar, there are still many things that can be revealed from this fort through specific archaeological studies with the help of Makassar historical sources. Archaeological studies that can be carried out on the remains of the fortress of Rotterdam include the art style of building the fort that was used at that time (XVII century) in Sulawesi, especially South Sulawesi, and what types of activities had occurred in the fort during its use. Thus, it is hoped that holistic data can be obtained about the ins and outs of the Rotterdam fort so that it can be used in its preservation efforts.

Abstract

Since prehistoric times, human adaptation patterns to their environment have manifested certain patterns that are closely related to human subsistence strategies in adapting to their natural environment. The choice of location for human habitation is strongly influenced by efforts to minimize the use of energy and time in exploiting and distributing sources of subsistence. There is a tolerance between the location of the site and the pattern of human adaptation to its natural environment. Factors related to environmental conditions are very important in choosing a location, in addition to other factors apart from economic and political factors.
