Abstract

Indonesia as the largest maritime country in the world, is estimated to have 3000 sites containing underwater archaeological resources. But unfortunately, this great potential has not been managed (research and its preservation) optimally. Various conflicts of interest in the management of underwater archaeological resources have led to new thinking in the vision of conservation. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an alternative approach that can better accommodate the various interests of the local community. One model of approach that is oriented to local communities is the community empowerment model. Empowerment of local communities around archaeological sites can be realized in three aspects of empowerment, namely: empowerment in the fields of a) socio-culture, b) politics, and c) economy.

Abstract

Among the people of Malang and its surroundings, the figure of Ken Dedes (read: Dedes) as an ancient Javanese princess who is seen as very beautiful is not new anymore. This assumption stuck on the surface in the early decades of the 19th century, when the Dutch discovered ruins in the Singosari temple complex. One of the finds from the ruins was a very beautiful statue found in the Wayang temple or E temple (according to Dutch reports), an area of the Mahayana Buddhist pantheon namely Dewi Prajnaparamita. When the area temporarily resided in the resident's residence in Malang, Monnerau, the Resident of Malang at that time connected the area of Dewi Prajnaparamita with a resident's story about Ken Dedes. From this, the initial suspicion arose that the statue of Dewi Prajnaparamita was a portrait of Ken Dedes.

Abstract

The development paradigm in many countries is now more oriented towards the development of the service sector and industry, including the tourism industry. Likewise in Indonesia in the last three decades the tourism sector has been encouraged and responded positively by the government with the hope of replacing the oil and gas sector which has been the prima donna in the country's foreign exchange earnings. The tourism sector is promising enough to help increase foreign exchange reserves and also pragmatically to increase people's income. The national situation is now beginning to show progress towards stability, especially in the political and security fields will provide assurance of confidence for foreign tourists to enter Indonesian territory.

Abstract

Archaeologists' foresight in handling the results of their research will determine the impact that will be felt by the wider community. This is what some of our archaeologists have not thought about. Most archaeological research results end in Archaeological Research Reports or Archaeological Research News which are only limited to reading by archaeological observers, including students majoring in Archeology or history who need for academic purposes. By trying to establish partnerships and cooperation with various sectors and interests, hopefully the reach, thoughts and considerations in determining the archaeological research model will be more extensive and more grounded.

Abstract

In the ancient history period of Indonesia, the inscription is one of the results of human culture in the classical period which is moveable in addition to the unmoveable remains in the form of temples and water temple buildings. The existence of inscriptions in macro cannot be separated from the forms of other cultures, such as the form of values, forms of behavior systems and forms of material culture.

Abstract

A number of military archaeological remains, which are found in various places in Indonesia, both in the form of monumental remains such as various local and colonial forts as well as non-monumental remains such as weapons, reflect the existence of the political, social and economic constellation that underlie the founding of these remains. Chronologically, although not necessarily in a linear order, military archaeological remains in the form of colonial fortresses originated from efforts to secure economic activities by placing beachheads in strategic places before evolving naturally into hardware to demonstrate their colonial political role. Meanwhile (or vice versa), the establishment of local or non-colonial fortresses was more of a response to counterbalance the development and spread of colonial strongholds in the past which were considered to threaten the power of local kings.

Abstract

From a geographic point of view, the Archipelago lies at a strategic crossroads between continents and oceans. Under these conditions, the development of culture in these islands has always been influenced by the major cultures around it, namely India and China. One problem of cultural history that is still a mystery is the process of the entry of Indian Culture in Central Java, namely the entrance and route of Indianization to the interior of southern Central Java. One of the areas on the north coast of Central Java which is quite strategic from a geographical point of view is Batang Regency. Based on its potential, it can be estimated that Batang Regency has a strategic role in the process of entering and developing the influence of Indian Culture on the Island of Java.
