Abstract

Good equipment and product design are meaningless if there is no good layout planning. Problems that are owned by PT. Pilar Kekar Plasindo occurs in the production of small polyethylene. This is because small polyethylene production has large material total transfer distance. Small polyethylene problems, namely the distance between stations, cross-movement, backtracking, and the broken machine that is still placed in the production section. This makes the material handling costs and distances become large. So this research aims to produce a layout design of production facilities that can minimize the distance and cost of material movement. The method used is Systematic Layout Planning (SLP). Three alternative designs were compared, and the second proposed facility layout was chosen because it was able to reduce the total cost of material transfer by 68.3% and reduce the distance of material transfer by 59.6% from the initial facility layout.

Abstract

Lamongan Regency is the district with the highest broiler population in East Java in 2017-2018. The business opportunity in the field of broiler breeding is a business that is considered promising, maintenance cycles that only take about 35 days make farmers do not have to wait a long time to enjoy the results, especially since they have developed livestock with a core-plasma pattern. With a mutualism relationship where many breeders have limited capital, while partner companies also need a place to raise broilers that are not only focused on one area, a pattern of core-plasma partnerships has developed between the company and breeders. This study analyzes the economic side of animal husbandry business with a core-plasma partnership pattern with PT. CA, Lamongan Unit as a case study. Breeder-01 with a concrete cage and other wood and bamboo materials, has an investment of Rp. 450,000,000 (capacity of 14,000 broilers) is estimated to be 30 years old, based on net income in the last cycle of Rp. 25,160,000 and the 3% interest rate yields an NPV of Rp. 2,826,618,448, ROR value of 28.54%, Payback Period of 2.28 years. Whereas Breeder-02 with a wooden cage and other materials made of bamboo, has an investment of Rp. 250,000,000 (12,000 capacity) estimated to be 15 years old, based on net income in the last cycle of Rp. 21,830,000 and an interest rate of 3% resulting in an NPV of Rp. 1,497,984,299, ROR value of 33.47%, Payback Period 1.14 years. The results of the sensitivity analysis can also be concluded that investment in broiler breeding business in nucleus-plasma partnership pattern is feasible.

Abstract

Every year the use of plastic is always increasing. This causes plastic pollution everywhere. In order to decrease the plastic pollution, a recycling system is needed. Currently, several groups of people have created Ecobrick. Ecobrick is a waste recycling system that utilizes PET (Polyethylene Therepthalate) bottles filled with plastic scraps. To facilitate the cutting, a plastic chopper was created. This tool is designed with a chopper blade unit driven by a single phase induction motor. For transmission between motors to the blades used gears and chains. This tool is also equipped with an ultrasonic sensor and Arduino as a control. If the sensor detects that the plastic is inserted, the sensor will send data to be processed by Arduino, so the relay will activate the motor for 20 seconds, until the plastic is completely chopped. In order to know how long for all one plastic chopped, several experiments have been carried out. For power supply, each circuit uses two output adapters of 5 VDC and 9 VDC.

Abstract

PT XYZ is a company of a motorcycle component and equipment industry group. PT XYZ produces motor brake brackets which will be sent to HONDA and YAMAHA. This study aims to evaluate the work posture of workers at the bending station with the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method and propose an improvement to minimize the risk of injury due to fatigue. In the bending process, there are 3 main activities, namely: object retrieval, object installation, and bending process. The results of calculation with the REBA method before improvement showed a high level of risk from each activity, namely a score of 8 for the first activity, a score of 5 for the second activity, and a score of 7 for the third activity. After the improvement, a lower average score is obtained, which is equal to 3, which includes a low-risk level of risk. Improvement of work posture is done by designing work aids in the form of work desks and work chairs Work tools that have been made can help workers to help improve their work posture in carrying out work activities, so as to minimize the risk of injury.

Abstract

Outdoor playground as an important aspect to support children’s interaction ability should meet the safety standard. However, not all early childhood education (PAUD) in Indonesia has a playground that is in accordance with the standards, one of which is PAUD Harapan Bunda. It has an outdoor playground with educational teaching aids (APE) in the form of a mixture of gravel and soil. Moreover, the distance between tools have not met the standard and some of that are not suitable for the age of to the students’ age. This condition does not meet safety standards so it is to necessary to design safer outdoor playground. TRIZ (Theory of Rezhenija Izobretatelskih Zadach) is the method that produce a specific solution based on the problem contradiction. Hence, this paper aims to design an outdoor playground using the TRIZ method. The first step is user’s need identification process using a questionnaire. Five needs were identified: safe, durable, attractive, supporting sensory development and sufficient space for children. The next process is determining the design parameters. This process consists of technical characteristics recapitulation, determination of the situation model and direction of innovation as a design reference. The results of the outdoor playground design consisted of loft typed smart play as the main tool, synthetic turf surface and animals picture wall. The result of Chi Square’s design validation shows that the design is in accordance with user needs.

Abstract

Changes in temperature, pH, and turbidity in concrete fish ponds greatly impact to the fish survival. Initial observations showed that among 3.067 fish seeds, 1.633 fish (53%) died and only 1.434 fish (47%) was successfully harvested. The application of water quality monitoring devices from concrete pools designed based on the Internet of Things technology has been tested. The monitoring equipment will not function optimally without an application that functions to receive monitoring data and then take action. Pool water quality monitoring equipment connected to the cloud using a GSM network connection. The recorded data is then displayed on the water quality monitoring application that designed using the Android operating system. Application design is developed using a User-Centered Design approach, where the design process was carried out by considering several variables: ease for use, clarity of information delivery, the fulfillment of needs, and appearance. Based on the results of the design evaluation, weaknesses can be determined, namely, difficulty to find the search menu for click history data, find the refresh button, read the results of searching for historical data, and read data in tables and graphs. Based on this, further improvements can be made to improve the application being made. The monitoring equipment is expected to provide information to pond managers to immediately take action if changing in pH and temperature beyond the limit so that the fish mortality rate can be minimized.
