Abstract

Low students' reconstruction skills in understanding science through local issues in society. The purpose of the study was to analyze the categorization of science reconstruction skills and test the effectiveness of the ethnoscience-adjacent Socioscientific Issues (SSI) strategy. Type of quasi-experimental quantitative research with independent sample type t-statistical design. Purposive sampling technique with a total of 65 high school students from 3 different schools clustered, namely schools in the village category, intermediate category, and city category. School categories are based on mileage from the city center. The data collection tool uses student science reconstruction tests and SSI strategy implementation questionnaires. The effectiveness of the SSI strategy consists of pretest and post-test data of students' science reconstruction skills. Data analysis techniques use the t-test and Manova test. The results showed that the categorization of students' science reconstruction skills was dominant in the Other Smart Kids (OSK) category by a p-value of 0.026 < 0.05; Students felt unfamiliar with the culture being studied, even though students' knowledge of science increased. The MANOVA test obtained the results of the experimental class (known with KE) = 0.674 and the Fcount KE = 17.974, showing that the SSI strategy with ethnoscience proximity was very effective in empowering student's science reconstruction skills simultaneously (SMA A, B, and C) with significant influence. Research recommendations that science reconstruction skills give the meaning of learning about how to appreciate and preserve the traditions and culture of society as a formation of the nation's character.

Abstract

21st-century education requires students to have Science Process Skills (SPS) to be able to compete in the academic world and the industrial world 5.0. SPS itself is a skill needed to solve problems by following scientific stages. The application of the STEAM learning approach using the Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model is expected to stimulate students to improve their skills. The research design used the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The instruments used were tests to observe SPS variables and non-tests to observe scientific attitudes. Hypothesis research analysis using one-way ANOVA analysis. The results of the study found that there was an effect of STEAM learning on student SPS and there were differences in student SPS that had high, medium, and low scientific attitudes.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the level of Mollusca Diversity in the Sungai Bandar Gigieng Hamlet, Peukan Tuha Village, Simpang Tiga District, Pidie Regency. This research was carried out using the linetransect and quadratic transect methods. The research location was divided into 3 stations, the stations were divided based on environmental conditions in the river, including the condition of the vegetation and activities occurring in the surroundings, then the samples found were identified. Research results the bivalves found in the Bandar Gigieng Hamlet River, Peukan Tuha Village, Simpang Tiga District, Pidie Regency consist of 2 ordersand 5 species with a total of 102 individuals. The diversity index value of Bivalves in the Bandar Gigieng Hamlet River, Peukan Tuha Village, Simpang Tiga District, Pidie Regency isclassified as medium, with a diversityindexof 1.327555 (H’). Learning activities become more meaningful, students become more active and enthusiastic in directly observing types of aquatic invertebrates
