Abstract

The aim of this research is to estimate the value of health degradation caused by nitrogen oxide (NOx) gas as one of the air pollutions in Jakarta Province. The economic growth in urban area may affect lifestyle which will increase the energy demand. Fossil fuel as the main energy emitting some gases to the ambient, one of them is NOx gas.  In this research analysis of factors that influenced NOx ambient concentration is based on the socials, economics, and meteorological data from Indonesia Statistics Center (BPS) and Bureau of Meteorology and Geophysics (BMG). The prediction of the cost that has to be paid by the persons who are exposured by NOx gas and will get respiratory symptomps is done by developing the dynamic simulation model. The result of this research is by 2025 the Jakarta residences that will have respiratory symptomps caused by the NOx air pollution should pay about 1 trillion (1012) rupiahs. To reduce this pollutant it is recommended to develop public policies based on the economic and environmental concern.

Abstract

The development of reclamation land of Mutiara Coast for settlement could impact to environment especially soil, groundwater, and organisms. The aim of this study is to examine soil and water qualities which were observed from physical and chemical properties, plants and birds varieties in the reclamation land of Mutiara Coast, North Jakarta. Soil sample is taken in 0-30 cm deep. Groundwater is taken in artessian well which has been built by the developer. Plants specimens is reconded and taken for further identification. All of those data have been analyzed descriptively. The results show that average of physical and chemical of soil parameter vary, on the other hand condition of groundwater in the reclamation land of Mutiara coast is not qualified as clean water. Plants varieties based on Simpson index is relatively low (C=0.1072), and also birds varieties (C=0.521). It was only 4 species found in those area.

Abstract

The Smith normal form and left good matrix have been known in matrix theorem. Any matrix over the principal ideal ring has a Smith normal form. The Smith normal form of a matrix has many applications on various fields such as a solution of Diophantin linear equation and differential equation system. Furthermore, a matrix A with entries in a commutative ring R with unity is left good if for every vector x, the ideal áxAñ is the same as the ideal áAñ. This paper discusses the relation between the Smith normal form and left good matrix. The relation is as the following: matrix A with entries in principal ideal ring of size m by n, with m < n, has Smith normal form [Im, O] if only if A is a left good matrix.

Abstract

This research was aimed for knowing the influence of  EM-4 (effective microorganism-4) addition and the most effective concentration of EM-4 in compost media for straw mushroom (Volvariella volvacea (Bull. ex Fr.) Sing) production. The treatment examined the use of EM-4 solution divided into six treatments and four repetitions. EM-4 concentration from 0 ml/l – 12,5 ml/l with an interval increasing of 2,5 ml/l. The addition of 7,5 ml/l – 12,5 ml/l concentration of EM-4 did not give so different result with the control media. Composting with addition of 5 ml/l EM-4 gave the highest straw mushroom production (2272,25 g). Statistically the result showed that the concentrations of EM-4 had no significant effect on the mushroom production.

Abstract

In regression analysis we make several assumptions about the error term. The following assumptions are often made: 1) the error terms are random variables with mean 0; 2) nonautocorrelation; 3) homoscedasticity, and 4) normality. The assumption of identically and independently distributed (iid) observations that underlies regression procedures is called into question when analyzing complex survey data. Particularly the existence of clusters in two stage samples usually exhibit positive intracluster correlation. If we use Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) procedures to make inferences in regression analysis for two stage cluster samples, we will be faced with a problem. This study aims to know the effect of two stage least squares on the F-Statistic. In general, although OLS procedures are unbiased but not fully efficient for estimation of the regression coefficients. Variance of the OLS estimators for the regression coefficients can be larger than the usual OLS variance expression would indicate. Failure to consider this possibility leads to underestimation of variances, with consequences for confidence intervals and the F-Statistic. The effect of intracluster correlation on the F-Statistic is the distortion of its distribution. The F-Statistic will not follow the Central F distribution anymore. Consequently, the hypothesis testing procedure is invalid.

Abstract

K-mean method is a clustering method in which grouping techniques are based only on distance measure among observed objects, without considering statistical aspects. Model-based clustering is a method that use statistical aspects, as its theoretical basis i.e. probability maximum criterion. This model has several variations with a variety of geometrical characteristics obtained by mean Gauss component. Data partition is conducted by utilizing EM (expectation-maximization) algorithm. Then by using Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) the best model is obtained. This research aimed to comparing result of grouping methods between model-based clustering and K-mean clustering. The results showed that model-based clustering was more effective in separating overlap groups than K-mean.
