Abstract

Research of effect filler addition in drying to nutrient component exchange in storage of processed organic wastes of kitchen and restaurant hotel’s was done at the laboratory of feed Technology, Departemen of Animal Nutrition and Feeding, Faculty of Animal Science UNDIP, Semarang. The research was aimed to study effect of filler addition in drying process of organic wastes of kitchen and restaurant hotel’s so the qualityy of product observed from proximate component and total fungi exchange during storage. Experiment was conducted by factorial completely randomized design (CRD-factorial) 3x2x3. Organic wastes of hotels class 1,2 and 3 dried by adding filler 0 and 15% and were stored for 0, 4 and 8 weeks. Component proximate i.e.: crude protein (CP), crude fat (CF), crude fiber (CF), Ash and Nitrogen Free extract (NFE) and total fungi are parameter observed. Data were statistically analyzed by Steel and Torrie (1981).The result showed that interaction effects of rice brand addition and time of storing are significant to EE, CF and NFE (P<0.05), but the effect to CP and Ash are not significant (P>0.05). interaction between hotel class, filler and storing significantly affected total fungi in the processed product (P<0.05).

Abstract

Fat Tailed Sheep represent one of Indonesian livestock that having excellence of comparability with other ruminants livestock. The excellence is quickly adult, short of pregnant age, and has the nature of bearing twin, so if evaluated from development aspect will be very beneficial. Reproductive Rate (RR) is a mount of reproduction ability from a group of ewes. Reproductive Rate defined as amount of weaned lamb by ewe every year. Variable/component related to RR are litter size, lamb mortalities before weaning and lambing interval.Litter size is general influenced by difference of breeds, age and sufficiency of nutrition. Litter size is peculiarly influenced by ovulation rate that determined by breed, age, nutrition and parity. Lamb age, litter size, birth weight, season, nutrition and parity are influenced lamb mortalities before weaning. Lambing interval determined by nutrition factor and management, which is matting pattern and lamb weaning.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the effect of industry waste water distance in Jaten-Karanganyar on Cr concentration in the water and soils at Pungkuk waterworks, also to know Cr concentration on that waterworks. The kind of this research was explorative research. The independent variable was treatment of take some water and soils sample at 0 km, 0.5 km and 1 km distance from pollutant source at Pungkuk waterworks and control. The result showed that distance where farther can affect Cr6+ concentration change in the soils and in the water were increase. The increasing of Cr6+ concentration change in the soils affected Cr6+ acumulation in the soils. The concentration of Cr6+ in the water has been influenced by value of water pH and EMC. Value of water pH also was influenced water EMC value. From sample analysis result showed that there was not polluted of heavy metal especially Cr6+ (between 0.017-0.093 ppm).

Abstract

Practicing intensive agriculture by implementing chemical substances in agriculture systems have been suspected cause problem on environment. Increase content of nitrate in drinking water and aquatic systems and greenhouse gases status of atmosphere may be due to the miss-practice of agricultural activity. Organic farming (OF) is one of techniques that may be implemented in order to solve this problem. Besides, its benefit in maintaining agro-environmental sustainability, practicing OF has weakness in the field. Therefore, to achieve its goal suitable strategy is needed. In the OF based on livestock, integration of crop-livestock-soil may occur, where among those three interact one each other and therefore ideal system (Zero wastes) may be established. Improvement of pasture increase, highly forage crop productivity and availability is expected influence on the performance of livestock. On the other hand, the return of animal wastes into pasture may tend to decrase the risk of environmental pollution.

Abstract

Solvent with different polarity used used in extraction of antioxidant compound from temu Lawak  (Curcuma xanthoriza Roxb.) and Temu Ireng (Curcuma Aerugonosa Roxb.) spices. The solvent are Enthanol and acetone. Antioxidant extracts were analyzed in “neutralizer free radical” activity with DPPH Radical Scavenging Method. The activity compared with synthetic antioxidant BHA.Result of the research  perform that Temu Lawak and Temu Ireng spices were potential as neutralizer free radical. Antioxidant extract of Temu Lawak spices have higher activity than Temu Ireng spices extract. The “neutralizer free radical” activity of 1% Temu Lawak extract is 1,9 times 300 ppm BHA activity, and 1% Temu Ireng extract is 1,24 times 300 ppm BHA activity. Solvent influential at “neutralizer free radical” activity of Temu Ireng spices extract, but it doesn’t influential at Temu lawak spices extract.

Abstract

The present study was aimed to evaluate the use of ‘Lumpur-bahinol’ (sludge of alcohol industry) as feed for sheep on feed intake, daily gain, and feed conversion ratio. Twelve indigenous rams grouped into three consist of four were used in this study following Completely Randomized Design. Those rams were 8-10 months old, and average weight at 17,15 kg. The rams were raised in individual barn and were fed Napier grass ad libitum and commercial concentrate feed at 2% of body weight. The treatments were substitution of concentrate feed with ‘lumpur-bahinol’ in the rations at various level as follow, K5L0 (concentrate 2% BW+lumpur-bahinol 0% BW), K4L1 (Concentrate 1.6% BW+Lumpur-bahinol 0.4% BW) and K3L2 (concentrate 1.2% BW+Lumpur-bahinol 0.8% BW). These rations were adjusted to fulfill dry matter requirement at 4% BW. The result showed that inclusion of lumpur-bahinol in the ration tend to decrease total DMI (P=0.1105), being 815 and 809 g/d for K4L1 and K3L2m, respectively, compared to K5L0 (890 g/d). Similar tendency was observed in crude protein intake (P=0.1105), being 104,94 dan 92 g/d for K5L0, K4L1 and K3L2, respectively, as well as in gross energy intake (P=0.0999), being 13.3; 11.4 and 10.5 Mj/d, for K5L0, K4L1 and K3L2, respectively. This phenomena was in contrast with the digestibility that tend to increase (P=0.1056) as much as 0.96% (K4L1) and 2.80% (K3L2), respectively, compared to K5L0 (62.97%). Despite of feed intake tended to decrease as increasing lumpur-bahinol in concentrate, but the daily gain tend to be higher (P=0.1171) in K4L1 (65 g/d) and K3L2 (56 g/d) compared to K5L0 (53 g/d). Similar tendency was shown in feed conversion of K4L1 (12.5) and K3L2 (14.5) that better than of K5L0 (16.8). The conclusion of this study was lumpur-bahinol could be used to compose concentrate feeding up to 0.8% of body weight.
