Abstract

Study on the main content of carbohydrates in rice and corn has been done. This study aims to determine the glucose level in a mixture of corn and rice with a certain ratio prior and during storage in a rice cooker. Spectronic 20 was used in this study to measure the absorption wavelength of sample solutions. Samples used in this study were from rice and sweet corn (Zea mays L. Saccharata) in various ratios of 1:0, 0:1, 1:1, 1:2, 2:1, 3:1 and 1:3, and variations in storage of 0, 1, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, and 36 hours. The results showed that the highest glucose level in corn were of 32.250 ppm within 12 hours storage, and 40.447 ppm in rice for 12 hours storage. The highest level of glucose in mixture of corn and rice for 12 hours storage was 67.546 ppm at a ratio of 1 : 3.

Abstract

Research on the adsorption biocharcoal of durian (durio zibethinus murr) bark to cadmium ion has been conducted. Heavy metal ions are toxic and generally as a major pollutant to the environment. Handling of waste containing heavy metal ions, especially Cd2+ ions have been carried out and need to be developed. This study described the ability of biocharcoal (biological charcoal) of durian bark to adsorb Cd2+ ions from their solutions. The method in this study was a laboratory experiment using biological charcoal powder of durian bark as an adsorbent of Cd2+ ions. Concentration of Cd2+ ions absorbed was measured using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) at a wavelength of 228.8 nm. The results showed the optimum Cd2+ ion absorbed was at 80 mg biocharcoal with the percentage of the Cd2+ ion absorbed up to 93.46%, where the weight of the Cd2+ ion absorbed was 16.62 mg/g. The optimum pH was at 7.0 with the percentage of the Cd2+ ion absorbed up to 97.94%, where the weight of the Cd2+ ion absorbed was 17.42 mg/g. The optimum concentration was at 20 ppm with the percentage of the Cd2+ ion absorbed up to 91.97%, where the weight of Cd2+ ion absorbed was 11.42 mg/g. The maximum absorption capacity of biocharcoal to the Cd2+ ion using the Langmuir isotherm adsorption equation was 33.33 mg/g of biocharcoal.

Abstract

Moringa is a plant use as a traditional medicine. The leaves of moringa (moringa oleivera) is part of the plant that could reduce the blood sugar levels. This research aims to determine the extract (infusion) of moringa leaves (moringa oleivera), to reduce the blood sugar level in mice and to determine the most effective concentrations of moringa leaves extract (infusion) to reduce the blood sugar levels in diabetic mice. Bioactifive compounds of moringa leaves was identified by using reagent dragendorff to test alkaloids while reagent chloroform, acetic anhydride and sulfuric acid to test steroids/terpenoids. The study was a clinical trial by using animal testing, 15 mice which was divided to 5 group of treatments: P1 (food + EDTA + glucose, 10% of moringa leaves infusion, Na-CMS), P2 (food + EDTA + glucose, 20% of moringa leaves infusion, Na-CMS), P3 (food + EDTA + glucose, 40% of moringa leaves infusion, Na-CMS), P4 (food + EDTA + glucose, glibenklamid, Na-CMS), and P5 (food + EDTA + glucose, Na-CMS). Blood glucose levels measured with GlukoDr instrument. The measurement data was analyzed by ANOVA test with the 95% confidence level followed by Duncan test to determine the significant different of each treatment to obtained the significant data. The result showed that moringa leaves extract consist of alkaloid and steroid which plays an important role to reduce blood sugar level and the concentration of the moringa leaves extract 20% was effective to the reduce the blood sugar level of diabetic mice.

Abstract

The plant could be potential as a traditional medicine, relatively safe, and inexpensive, that is of Moringa (moringa oleifera) fruit, which contains compounds those can lower blood sugar levels. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Moringa fruit extracts on decreasing blood sugar levels of mice and to determine the most effective concentration of the extract. The separation method used was maceration. The animals test used were 15 male mice induced by EDTA. Mice were divided into 5 groups with different treatments. The first, the second, and the third treatments were given moringa extracts each with a concentration of 10, 20, and 40%. The fourth treatment was given glibenclamide suspension as a positive control, and the fifth treatment was given Na-CMC as a negative control. Data were analyzed using a statistical analysis of variance (ANOVA) test followed by Duncan test. The results showed that Moringa fruit extract lowered blood sugar levels of mice. The means decrease of blood sugar levels for each treatments were 49.67 mg/dL for the first, 58.33 mg/dL for the second, 70.33 mg/dL for the third, 66.67 mg/dL for the fourth, and 10.00 mg/dL for the fifth, . This study concluded that the Moringa fruit extract decreased blood sugar levels of mice with the most effective concentration of 10% and α = 0.05.

Abstract

The cocoa (theobroma cacao L.) plant is one of the plantation crops which has an economic potential value. Chitosan and cacao tonnage are potential to be used as nutrients in cacao plant. This research was aimed to use blending chitosan and tonnage dust of cocoa as a suplement in cocoa plant. Method of the research used comparisons of the amount of capsule blending chitosan and tonnage for fertilizing. Comparisons of the blending chitosan tonnage used as the test groups were 16 capsules, 12 capsules, and 8 capsules added by pesticide. As a positive control was the commercial fertilizer with additional of pesticide, and the negative control used only pesticide. Physical observations before and after treatments showed that the test groups and the positive control were able to reduce the amount of tonnage, and improved quality of the skin and the cocoa beans. Each group of 16 capsules, 12 capsules, 8 capsules, positive control and negative control produced weight for every three cocoa beans of 129.25 g, 128.88 g, 96.87 g, 115.22 g, and 44.76 g, respectively. While the cocoa fat level analysis of each sample showed 54.53%, 52.60%, 52.02%, 51.87%, and 48.39%, respectively. It can be concluded that the blending chitosan tonnage increased the productivity and the quality of cocoa beans.

Abstract

The type of in this research is the experimental of research with using of model POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) held in to SMAN 4 Pasangkayu XI science of class. The experiment class (XI IPA 2) using POE learning the model cinsists of 21 student and the class of control (XI IPA 1) using of research conventional learning model to consists of 17 students. This research aims to determine the effect learning of a POE model on learning outcomes in chemistry class XI science student of SMAN 4 Pasangkayu. The test was gave before and after the learning twice (pretest and posttest). The observation sheet was used to observe student’s learning of activities. T test was performed after normality test and data homogenity. Based on the data analysis the average for experiment class is 11.07 with the mastery percentage of 71.42% while of 28.57% did not completed. For a control class average to valve 9,08 with the percentage completeness to valve learning a student 41.17% while not completed of 58.82%. In this matter to pointed that there are to affect of POE model on learning result in chemistry to XI exact science of class with material on the solubility and product solubility to SMAN 4 of Pasangkayu, cause can to interest layer and result of student learning.

Abstract

One of the plant that is widely used as a medicinal plant is the leaves of tamarind (tamarindus indica L). This study aims to determine the effectiveness of anti-diabetic of tamarind (tamarindus indica L.) extract in lowering blood glucose levels in mice animals test. The experiment was performed using tamarind leaves extracted through infusion method. The animals test were 15 male mice induced by ethylene diamine tetra acetate (EDTA). Mice were divided randomly into 5 groups with different treatments. Treatments I, II and III were given tamarind leaves extracts for each with a concentration of 10%, 20% and 40%. Treatment IV was given glibenclamide suspense as a positive control (+), and the treatment V was given Na-CMC 1% as a negative control (-). Based on the analysis of variance statistical calculations tamarind leaves extracts can lower blood glucose levels on mice test. Furthermore, the significant difference was tested to check the concentration effect. The results on animals test with a significant level of 5% showed that the tamarind leaves extract of 40% or Treatment III affected on decreasing blood sugar levels on mice.

Abstract

Internet is a global network connecting thousands and even millions of computer networks with a personal computer so that the user can obtain a variety of information from wider sources. This internet service is used to assist the implementation of the SQ3R learning method that is expected to enrich the literature. The SQ3R learning method is a method of learning which uses the reading technique intensively and rationally to understand the main ideas, the details of a reading, and a comprehensive understanding of a passage with the steps i.e. surveying, asking, reading, communicating, and reviewing. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the implementation of SQ3R learning method internet-assisted to the learning outcomes (cognitive) of students in the class X on the material periodic table of elements at Senior High School Labschool Palu. This research was a quasi-experimental with non-randomized pre-test and post-test control groups design. This research was carried out by holding two groups of class X science 1 as the control group (n = 19) and Class X science 2 as the experimental group (n = 18).Testing of research data used t-test statistical analysis one side (right side) with the prerequisite tests: normality and homogeneity tests. The results of the data analysis obtained the average value (X1 ) of experiment class was 83.94 with a standard deviation of 8.24 and (X1 ) of control class was 77.78 with a standard deviation of 8.54. Results of the hypothesis testing using statistical t-test one side (right side) obtained tcount>ttable value was 1.867 > 1.690 with a confidence level (α) = 0.05 and a degree of freedom (df ) = 35. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, then Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted so it can be concluded that the SQ3R learning method internet-assisted on the material Periodic System of Elements has a positive influence on the learning outcomes of students in the class X at Senior High School Labschool Palu.

Abstract

A research on the application of cooperative learning model type course review hooray and jigsaw to the students’ learning outcomes of class X SMA Negeri 9 Palu on redox material has been implemented. This type of research was quasi-experiment with non-randomized pretest-posttest control group design. Determination of sample was done by purposive sampling method. The sample of this research was a student of class XA class as a control group (n =23) and student of class XB as experiment group (n=23). Data processing of students’ learning outcomes used a non-parametric test analysis Mann-Whitney U-Test test. The results showed that the mean of experiment class was bigger than control class that was 27.57>19.47. The statistical analysis resulted in sig. 2-tailed (0.033)˂0.05 and Zcount (-2.136)˂Ztable (-1.96). The influence of the application of cooperative learning model of course review hooray to students’ learning outcomes can also be seen in the descriptive statistic analysis with 2 mean posttest score for the experimental class was 69.60 while in control class was 59.39. The minimum criterion value was 68. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is an influence of application of cooperative learning model of course review horay type to the students’ learning outcomes of class X SMA Negeri 9 Palu in redox material.
