Abstract

The observation on reactive mechanical alloying (RMA) process had been done to form MgH2 material with adding Ni nanoparticles as catalist for hydrogen storage material applications. Pressure and temperature of material forming were recorded by microcontroller set for 30 minutes. Mg with adding Ni 5 wt % was milled by High Energy Ball Mill (HEBM) at H2 atmosphere in 1 atm of pressure. The measurement results showed that the pressure had been changed and temperature also changes up to 38oC. This process proves that the alloying betwen Mg and H2 had been formed. The X-ray diffraction pattern identify MgH2 phase. SEM image showed the morphology of MgH2 particles.

Abstract

This study is a comprehensive-descriptive analysis elaboration to seismic hazards on Sermo Dam, while in terms of microtremor characteristic (PGA model), its regional geology and observation of instrumentation on it. Sermo Dam is the only one water resources infrastructure which lies in The Yogyakarta Province at time of earthquake disaster happened on May 2006. Basic theories used in this case are HVSR methods, determining sediment thickness, and Kanai Method for Maximum Ground Acceleration, Then, based on these we can analyze characteristics of responsiveness damin the form of local spatial region focused by amplitude (A), dominance frequency (fo), time period (T), sediment thickness (H) and Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) based on microtremor approarch with seismograph TDS 303S. Besides, by an analysis on regional geology that can be obtainable the characteristic of Sermo Dam foundation which lies on the Old Andesite (Kebo Butak) Formation. They are relatively robust when subjected to seismic vibration of middle class to below (less than 7 Richter scale on design). Also it has some declining periodic trends by main dam whereas there is still in the initial stage of design tolerance. The final result is zoning classification of damagepotential with: (1) region by PGA values of 0.04≤ a <0.15g which they are minor impact damage on their buildings; (2) region by PGA values of 0.15≤ a <0.34g which they are medium impact damage on their buildings. The damage level is comparable by inclining of filler material thickness at damsite.

Abstract

Modelling studies of Time Domain Induced Polarization (TDIP) performed to obtain the relationship between parameters responses to metallic mineral content. This study includes mathematical, forward, physical and inversion modelling. Mathematical modelling is done by solving the Laplace equation to obtain the IP responses. Forward modelling is done by developing a numerical workflow to generate theoretical curves. Physical modelling obtained the data from various parameters of target measurement. TDIP responses that compared with the theoretical curves are the results of mathematical modelling. The best response of IP can be obtained by inversion modelling. TDIP responses measurement by varying target’s metallic mineral content is done for understanding the relationship between them. The amplitude of IP responses in forward modelling is determined by target’s radius and depth ratio, and ratio of background resistivity and target’s resistivity. The higher target’s radius and depth ratio, the higher the amplitude. There is a good correlation between TDIP responses to the presence of the target and the possibility of metallic mineral content in target.

Abstract

Magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles have been successfully synthesized using co-precipitation method and have been used for removing Cu, Mn and Ni metals ions from artificial wastewater. Ability of removing metal ions with Fe3O4 against pH, adsorbent particle size, readsorption and by addition of Polyethylene Glycol (PEG-4000) as coating agent of adsorbent have been studied. The adsorption process was found to be pH-dependent. Maximum adsorption at pH 12 for most of the metal ions with percent of sorption Cu 99.79%, Ni 69.83% and Mn 44.53%. Using adsorbent with 12 nm of particles size, readsorption process and by addition of Polyethylene Glycol (PEG-4000) as coating agent of adsorbent also made the ability of removing metals ions increasing. Preliminary results indicate that magnetite nanoparticles may be used as an adsorbent for removal of Cu, Mn and Ni from wastewater.

Abstract

The Estimation of coal bituminous depth in Village of Banjaran, District of Salem, Regency of Brebes based on magnetic anomaly data has been done. The Village of Banjaran is located in the geology basin which called as Bentarsari Basin. The activities stages that carried out in this research include of magnetic data acquisition in the field, data processing, and interpretation. The interpretation of the anomalies data is done through the modeling using the Mag2DC for Window software on the local magnetic anomalies data. Based on this modeling results, then obtained six anomalous objects that can be interpreted as the subsurface rocks in the research area, which consists of sediments of gravel, sand, clay, and silt ( = 0.0020 cgs units); tuff and tuffaceous sandstone ( = 0.0069cgs units); andesite breccia, tuff, and tuffaceous sandstone ( = 0.0085cgs units); solid andesite breccia which not layered ( = 0.0115 cgs units); coarse sandstones, limestones, and sandy marl ( = 0.0109cgs units); andesite sandstone that layered with claystone and thin insertions of new coal bituminous alternately ( = 0.0008cgs units). Based on the modeling results and the geological information of this research area, it can be estimated that the coal bituminous found in the Kaliglagah formation, with its depths ranging between 104.48 m – 505.97m, and the value of the magnetic susceptibility is 0.0008 cgs units.

Abstract

A researh related to petrogaphy analysis of molybdenum (Mo) has been conducted. The main objective of this study is to get quantitative information about the composotion of molybdenum (Mo) as a minor phase of primer mineral Fe2O3 deposited at Bontocani, District of Bone South Sulawesi. The petrography analysis was performed on 10 samples by means of Tescan Vega3SB Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) coupled with Bruker X-Ray Mapping and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS). Crystallinity level and chemical composition(phase) mineral constituent were performed by using MiniFlexII X-Ray Diifraction (XRD). The petrography analysis in the form of elemental mapping show the position of Mo along with Fe, S and other elements. The XRD analysis showed that that the Mo mineral of Bontocani deposit is found in the form of pure Mo element with a concentration of 0.2 – 8.0 wt%, compound of Fe17(Mo3)0.1 and Fe2(MoO4)3 with a concentration of 2.04 wt% and 14.0 wt%.

Abstract

The research is aimed to investigate the possibility of acrylic-reinforced glass fibre as a denture. Short glass fibre was made by variation of 4mm, 6 mm and 8mm. The results showed a good adhesion between glass fibre and acrylic resin with an optimum composition of the denture (acrylic: oil : glass fibre = 10 gr : 4.5 mL : 0.13 gr) was achieved. The density test was conducted by using Archimedes’ method, whereas compressive strength and tensile strength by using Universal Testing Machine (UTM). The results showed that glass fibre can be used to enhance the mechanical properties of acrylic resin. The optimum composition was achieved when 6 mm fibre had been added-in with a density of 1.2256 gr/cm3. A compressive strength of 76.623 MPa and a tensile strength of 71.207 MPa were recorded, these values can be applied as a denture.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze relationship between thinking skill pattern and students’ conceptual acquisition on metacognitive strategy assisted by thinking map. This mixed method research (embedded experimental design) was conducted at junior high school students and used conceptual acquisition test (posttest) and observation paper. The observation paper was used to analyze students’ thinking skill pattern by using thinking map. The result of this research showed that students who had high thinking skill pattern reachedhigh conceptual acquisition score too. This physics conceptual acquisition score showed students’ cognitive process grade. Conclusion of this research is the relationship between thinking skill pattern and junior high school students’ physics conceptual acquisition is exist.
