Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas bahan ajar IPA terpadu untuk SMP, khususnya tema Air Limbah Rumah Tangga. Desain penelitian menggunakan kuasi-eksperimen dengan Pretest-Postest Control Group Design. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMPN 20 Malang kelas VII. Sampel ditetapkan dengan purposive sampling. Perlakuan pada kelompok eksperimen adalah pembelajaran yang menggunakan bahan ajar IPA terpadu, sedangkan kelompok kontrol  menggunakan buku  sekolah elektronik (BSE). Instrumen yang digunakan adalah butir soal tes, lembar observasi pembelajaran, dan perangkat  pembelajaran. Analisis data dilakukan dengan Anava AB untuk uji perbedaan rerata dan uji scheffe untuk uji efektivitas bahan ajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi pada siswa SMP yang menggunakan bahan ajar IPA Terpadu dengan siswa SMP yang menggunakan bahan ajar IPA yang terpisah bidang kajiannya, dan bahan ajar IPA terpadu efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa. This study aims totest the effectiveness of an integrated science teaching materials for students of junior high school, particularly in themeof Domestic Wastewater. The study designused a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest with control group design. The experiment was conductedin Junior High School of Malang. Samples were determined by purposive sampling. Treatmentin the experimental group was learning to integrated science teaching materials, whereas in the control group with the teaching materials available in schools. The instrument used were a matter oftestitems, observation sheets of learning, and learningtools. Data analysis was performed with AnovaAB totestmean difference and Scheffetesttotestthe effectiveness ofinstructional materials. The results showed that 1)there aredifferences inhigher-order thinkingskillsinjunior high school students using teaching materials in integrated science withjunior high school students who useda separate instructional materials science field studies, and 2)an integrated science teaching materialsis effective to be applied toenhance higher order thinking skills of students.

Abstract

The analysis of mental models is a part of the identification of students thoughts on the concept. Mental models analysis is conducted by conditioning the complex problems such as the isomorphic issues. The research objective is to analyze the development of students mental models on the topic rotational motion dynamics. The study was designed with the mixed method. The design phase of the research was conducted in both quantitative and qualitative approach. The quantitative phase was performed by providing pre-test, learning, and post-test containing isomorphic problems; while qualitative phase was implemented by interview and quiz. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the study categorizes mental models into three types, i.e. Low Mental Model (LMM), Moderate Mental Model (MMM), and High Mental Model (HMM). Based on the pre-test results, it was proved that all students used Low mental model in resolving the isomorphic problems. Using the Low Mental Model, it was found that students have misconceptions on the moment of force and moment of inertia. Mental models developed gradually from Low mental model to Moderate Mental Model and then reached the High Mental Model Mental. It was observed from the results of pre-test, quizzes, and post-test. The quiz and post-test results showed the students who used Mental Model and High Mental Model.

Abstract

In agreement with students’ conceptual understanding, identifying of problem solving is an important part of physics. This article is to identify the approach used by students in solving a physics problem. The subject of the research were students of physics education year 2014 in Jambi University who had joined basic physics class. The instruments used in this research were DIRECT (determining and interpreting resistive electric circuit concept test) (Engelhardt & Beichner, 2004). Based on the result, 34,1% students still used the memory based approach in problem solving, 52,3% of them used no clear approach, 4,5% used structured manner, 6,82% used unstructured manner and only 2,27% students used a scientific approach to solving the problem. The result showed that many students used no clear approach and memory based approach to solve the problem. It mean that they did not use physics concept in solving the problem and generally they only used the equation they memorized related to the problem they ever did before.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan scientific literacy siswa sebelum dan setelah pembelajaran STEM berbasis masalah pada materi fluida statis. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode dekriptif pada salah satu kelas di SMAN 8 Muaro Jambi. Subjek penelitian ini terdiri atas 27 siswa yang meliputi 19 perempuan dan 8 laki-laki.  Scientific literacy siswa diukur menggunakan 5 butir soal essai. Soal tersebut telah valid dan memiliki reliabilitas yang tinggi. Hasil analisis n-gain menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan. N-gain rata-rata masing-masing soal menunjukkan n-gain soal nomor 1 sebesar 0,23 (rendah), soal nomor 2 sebesar 0,46 (sedang), soal nomor 3 sebesar 0,25 (rendah), soal nomor 4 sebesar 0,156 (rendah), dan soal nomor 5 sebesar 0,625 (tinggi). Berdasarkan jawaban post-test siswa diperoleh kriteria scientific literacy siswa . Kriteria tersebut berdasarkan kriteria PISA 2015. The purpose of this study was to describe the students scientific literacy before and after STEM based on problem learning on static fluid. The method of this study was the descriptive method in one of class in SMAN 8 Muaro Jambi. The subjects were 27 students who consisted of 19 females and 8 males. The students scientific literacy was measured by 5 essay questions. The instrument was valid and had the high reliability. The analyzed results of n-gain show that there is an improvement. The average of n-gain for each question shows that the n-gain of the numbers show 0,23 (low) in number 1,  0.46 (medium) in number 2, 0,25 (low) in number 3, 0,156 (low)  in number 4 and 0,625 (medium) in number 5. Based on the students post-test it gains the students scientific literacy criteria. Its based on PISA 2015.

Abstract

Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemecahan masalah mahasiswa setelah dibelajarkan dengan pembelajaran guided inquiry berbantuan PhET. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan mixed method dengan desain embeded eksperimental model. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 35 mahasiswa pendidikan fisika Universitas Negeri Jambi yang sedang menempuh mata kuliah Fisika Dasar II. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan skor kemampuan pemecahan masalah mahasiswa setelah dibelajarkan dengan pembelajaran guided inquiry berbantuan PhET dengan N-gain dalam kategori sedang dan effect size dalam kategori kuat. Jika dilihat dari daya beda pretest dan posttest didapatkan nilai t sebesar 12,48 dengan signifikansi 0,000. Hasil ini menunjukkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah sebelum diajarkan dan setelah diajarkan guided inquiry berbantuan PhET berbeda secara signifikan dengan nilai posttest lebih baik dari pretest. The aim of this study is to know the ability of student’s problem solving after studied with  guided inquiry and PhET simulations. This study used mixed method with a design of the embedded experimental model to get result of research. The subjects are 35 students of physics education in Jambi University who learning basic physics. The result shows that scores of students problem-solving ability increase after learned with guided inquiry assisted PhET with N-Gain in the medium category and the effect size in the high category. If viewed from different pretest and posttest show t values 12,48 and 0,000 significance. These results indicate that skill of problem-solving before and after learned with collaborate guided inquiry and PhET significantly different with the value of posttest is better than the pretest.

Abstract

Eosin Y telah berhasil diembankan pada Metal-Organic Framework Zirkonium Naftalendikarboksilat (MOF Zr-NDC) dengan cara menambahkan Eosin Y dalam pelarut etanol (0,034 ml, 10-4 M) pada MOF Zr-NDC (0,3 g). Pengukuran Powder X-Ray Diffraction (PXRD) dilakukan untuk mengkonfirmasi pembentukan MOF Zr-NDC dengan puncak khas pada 2? di 6.47 dan 7.45. Spektra UV-vis Diffuse Reflectance Spectra diperoleh dengan menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-vis. MOF Zr-NDC memberikan serapan pada 274 nm yang berhubungan dengan energi celah sebesar 4.32 eV, sedangkan Eosin Y menunjukkan serapan pada 524 nm. Di sisi lain, Eosin Y@MOF Zr-NDC menunjukkan puncak-puncak serapan pada 300, 357, dan 524 nm yang berkorelasi dengan energi celah masing-masing sebesar 3,65, 3,15, dan 2,19 eV

Abstract

Literacy skill is needed in the 21st century learning, whereas research about the implementation of Problem Based Learning-Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (PBL-STEM) to develop students’ ability of scientific literacy is still limited. This research purposed to compare students’ scientific literacy competencies domain improvement through PBL-STEM in the topic of optical instrument. The quasi-experiment non-equivalent group design involved the students of Senior High School 9 Malang Indonesia in three classes called PBL-STEM, PBL, and control class. PBL-STEM class made three products, which were camera obscura, magnifier, and binoculars, which were presented with posters and reports. The PBL class, on the other hand, only made binoculars and presented their work briefly. Scientific Literacy Ability Test was used with 0.88 Cronbach’s alpha reliability. Data analysis with one-way ANOVA, post hoc Tukey test, N-gain, and Cohen’s effect size was conducted. The result showed that three classes had a significantly different ability in scientific literacy. Scientific literacy competencies domain of PBL-STEM was the highest, while PBL class is higher than the control class. The improvement of both PBL-STEM and PBL belonged in medium category, whereas the improvement in the control class was in low category. The effect of the operational implementation of PBL-STEM and PBL pair yielded large result, and both PBL-STEM and control and PBL and control pairs yielded very large category in the improvement of students’ scientific literacy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Inquiry learning with scaffolding to decrease the percentage of light material misconception among fourth-grade students. The method used was Quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group design. The population was fourth-grade students of the Surya Buana Islamic Elementary School, Malang. The result of Anacova showed that for the “Class” variable, the value of Significance (P-value) obtained was smaller than the α significance level of 0,006 < 0,05. Based on the results of the Anacova test it was concluded that there was a significant effect from the use of Inquiry learning with scaffolding to decrease the percentage of light material misconception in fourth-grade students of Surya Buana Islamic Elementary School, Malang. The average percentage of students’ misconceptions in the experimental class at the initial conception was 38.7% and dropped to 15.4% in conception after inquiry learning with scaffolding. While the average percentage of students’ misconceptions of control class at the initial conception was 37.8% and dropped became 22.7% at conception after conventional learning. The decrease in the percentage of students’ misconceptions of the experimental class was greater than the control class by a difference of 10.7%. Further research is suggested to examine more deeply the effect of inquiry learning with scaffolding on process skill, learning achievement, and other aspects of learning that are likely to be developed in students.

Abstract

Abstract: Improvement of elementary schools' teachers competencies through active teaching.This descriptive research wasabout improvement efforts of elementary schools' teachers competencies in science subjects. The research was conducted in elementary schools' teachers who become members of training of active teaching in science at Tuban, East Java. Instruments used were questionnaire, teaching implemention skills observation sheet, and  portopholio.  Research results showed there were good enough competencies in designing teaching, designing media teaching, designing and implementing evaluation, and also implementing teaching through lesson learn. Abstrak: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif tentang upaya peningkatan kompetensi guru SD dalam mata pelajaran IPA. Penelitian dilakukan pada guru SD peserta Pelatihan Pembelajaran IPA Aktif di Tuban - Jawa Timur. Instrumen yang digunakan terdiri dari angket, lembar observasi kemampuan melaksanakan pembelajaran, dan portofolio. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang cukup baik dalam hal merancang pembelajaran, merancang media pembelajaran, merancang dan melaksanakan penilaian, serta mengimpelemtasikan pembelajaran melalui lesson learn.
