Abstract

Indonesian Palm Oil Industry has the largest market share in the world, but still faces problems in order to strengthen the level of competitiveness. Those problems are in the industry chains, government regulation and policy as meso environment, and macro economic condition. Therefore these three elements should be considered when analyzing the improvement of competitiveness. Here, the governmental element is hoped to create a conducive environment. This paper presents the industry competitiveness conceptual model, using hierarchical multilevel system approach. The Hierarchical multilevel system approach is used to accommodate the complexity of the industrial relation and the government position as the meso environment. The step to develop the model firstly is to define the relevant system. Secondly, is to formulate the output of the model that is competitiveness in the form of indicator. Then, the relevant system with competitiveness as the output is built into a conceptual model using hierarchical multilevel system. The conceptual model is then discussed to see if it can explain the relevant system, and the potential of it to be developed into mathematical model.

Abstract

Reliability Centered Maintenence (RCM) is a systematic maintenence strategy based on system reliability. Application of RCM process will not always come out with a binary output of “yes” and “no”. Most of the time they are not supported with available detail information to calculate system reliability. The fuzzy logic method attempts to eliminate the uncertainty by providing “truth” in different degrees.Data and responses from maintenance department will be processed using the two methods (reliability centered maintenance and fuzzy logic) to design maintenance strategy for the company. The results of the fuzzy logic RCM application are maintenance strategy which fit with current and future condition.

Abstract

The focus of this research is to solve a complex problem through the system approach. As a study case, we tried to minimize the production time at furniture industry using the appropriate process scheduling. Both simulation and Tabu Search methods were employed to solve the scheduling problem. The simulation helped to solve the problem through system approach, while the Tabu Search was employed to find the optimal solutions. The result shows that the hybrid method gave better solution than the initial condition. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Penelitian ini memiliki fokus pada penyelesaian suatu permasalahan yang kompleks melalui pendekatan sistem. Permasalahan yang dibahas adalah bagaimana menurunkan waktu pengerjaan produk di industri perkayuan melalui proses penjadwalan yang tepat. Metode simulasi dan Tabu Search digunakan dalam penyelesaian permasalahan. Simulasi digunakan untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan melalui pendekatan sistem sedangkan Tabu Search digunakan untuk mencari solusi yang optimal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa gabungan pendekatan yang diusulkan memiliki solusi yang lebih baik daripada kondisi awal. Kata kunci: simulasi, Tabu Search, penjadwalan.

Abstract

This paper discusses the train rescheduling problem due to disturbances. The train rescheduling problem discussed in this paper is taken from a real train network of DAOP II Bandung in Jawa, Indonesia. The train network consists of block sections including unidirectional double-tracks and bidirectional single-tracks. There are some connections among trains because they use same rolling stocks. A mixed integer linear programming model is formulated to represent the problem. Main decision variables of the model are new departure and arrival times due to the disturbance. The objective function to be minimized is the total weighted delay. The model is examined using a hypothetical instance for four disturbance cases. Numerical experiments show that the model can represent the problem under study

Abstract

Application of artificial inteligent by using fuzzy logic can be one of way to handle supply chain situation in uncertainty environment. It was widely concern to study a supply chain using fuzzy logic that most needed. Ain of the study was apply fuzzy logic in determination of supply allocation for superior product in vegetables supply chain. Models was developed in three sub models. First was determination vegetables types that superior by using pareto technique and exponential compaarison method (MPE). Second was expert system to determine supply needed and finally was optimizing supply allocation using fuzzy multi-objective linear programming. The model was applied in a vegetables agroindustry that superior product selected was red paprica. Analysis againts model behaviour is conducted for pesimistic and optimistic scenarios. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Penerapan kecerdasan buatan dengan logika fuzzy bisa menjadi salah satu cara untuk mengatasi situasi rantai pasok dalam lingkungan ketidakpastian. Perhatian yang lebih luas untuk pembahasan rantai pasok menggunakan teknik fuzzy masih sangat dibutuhkan. Studi ini bertujuan menerapkan logika fuzzy dalam penentuan alokasi pasokan untuk produk unggulan pada rantai pasok agroindustri sayuran. Model yang terdiri dari tiga sub model. Sub model pertama adalah penentuan jenis sayuran yang diunggulkan menggunakan kombinasi teknik pareto dan metode perbandingan eksponensial (MPE). Sub model kedua adalah sistem pakar untuk menentukan kebutuhan pasokan menggunakan logika fuzzy. Sub model ketiga adalah optimasi alokasi pasokan menggunakan programa linear obyektif majemuk fuzzy. Model yang dibangun kemudian diterapkan pada sebuah perusahaan agroindustri sayuran dengan produk unggulan terpilih adalah paprika merah. Analisis terhadap prilaku model juga dilakukan untuk skenario pesimis dan optimis. Kata kunci: fuzzy, sistem pakar, MPE, obyektif majemuk, sayuran

Abstract

The definition of TQM continues to be a debated issue to organizational management. Not only is there an absence of a uniform definition but also there is no prescriptive standard outlining TQM concepts. This supports an argument that TQM is not merely a tool or method that is ready for use, but there is a set of underlying principles, philosophies and paradigms that must be applied in the unique organizational context. This paper will discuss the concept of TQM at three integrated levels in an organization from inside out; namely paradigm level, system and structural level and technical and operational level in the purpose for helping organizations to grasp the comprehensive substance of TQM.

Abstract

Scheduling and routing are important for a shipping company. In this paper a scheduling and routing model is developed to solve a shipping company problem. The model is different to some previous models since it considers the company’s constraints such as number of ports that can be visited in one route, number of calls in each port and minimum gap between consecutive visits. The model is applied in one shipping company in Surabaya, Indonesia and is solved using insertion heuristic and simulated annealing. The result shows that simulated annealing method can reduce 18.2% of total distance compare to previous company’s schedule and routes.

Abstract

Many methods have been developed to get the optimal result in forecasting. One of them that will be used in this paper is using Neural Network for forecasting. The result will be compared with GARCH(1,1) in the terms of Means Absolute Deviation (MAD) and Means Square Error (MSE). Besides that the accuracy and the power to damp the jump will be observed. The data is currency rate from 4 countries in Asia taken during the Asian Monetary Crisis from 1997 up to 1999 since the jump was happened in that series. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Ada banyak metode yang telah dikembangkan untuk mencapai hasil yang optimal dari suatu peramalan. Salah satu yang akan diulas pada makalah ini adalah penggunaan Neural Network atau jaringan saraf untuk mendapatkan hasil peramalan yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan optimasi dan akurasinya. Hasil dari metode ini akan dibandingkan dengan metode GARCH(1,1) dalam bentuk Means Absolute Deviation (MAD) dan Means Square Error (MSE). Selain itu dilakukan pula pengamatan terhadap peredaman jump (perubahan mendadak). Data yang digunakan adalah nilai tukar mata uang dari empat negara di Asia yang diambil selama krisis moneter di Asia. Kata Kunci: Backpropagation, MAD, MSE, GARCH(1,1), jump.

Abstract

Implementation of mobile rack warehouse is commonly used in manufacturing industry because it can minimize the warehouse area used. Applying picking orders in taking of Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) on mobile rack warehouses could give fast loading order. This research aims to find out which algorithm is better in applying picking order sequence in mobile rack warehouse. The algorithm used is Simualted Annealing (SA) and Harmony Search (HS) algorithm. Both of these algorithms will be compared in terms of the gap with the shortest path method.The result shows that the HS algorithm produces a better solution than the SA algorithm with lower CPU time, but the convergence rate of HS is lower than that of SA.HS was able to produce a better solution than the shortest path method of 9 cases, while SA only 8 cases from 15 cases.

Abstract

Quality in higher education is nowadays becoming important aspect for universities in order for them to participate in improving Indonesia competitiveness by mean of improving human development index. However, quality itself is not a simple term to be understood. Therefore the main objective of this paper is to elaborate quality matter especially for Private Higher Education Institution. It is expected that this paper can provide another insight for private Higher Education Institution to improve the quality. This paper tries to approach the quality by understanding its philosophy as well as its practical approach in Industry. Of course, there are always rooms for improvement.
