Abstract

A model of production planning in Crude Palm Oil industry is discussed on this paper. An interactive model is made due to the involvement of decision maker’s preference in production planning. The model is built for Nucleus-Plasma palm estate system. The sources of fresh palm fruit bunches are obtained from nucleus estate, plasma estate and outsourcing. A single objective fuzzy linear programming model is built with the following steps: (1) Decision variables, parameters are identified from the real system of Crude Palm Oil industry as well as determination of constraints and objective function; (2) Fuzzy parameters are determined using modified S curve membership function. Linear programming model is also formulated at this step. Risk quality of raw material is represented by percentage of defect raw material; (3) Model is then validated using data from Nucleus-Plasma palm estate system. The result shows that S curve membership function is able to represent the preference of decision makers. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia: Tulisan ini membahas sebuah model perencanaan produksi dalam kerangka rantai pasok agroindustri crude palm oil (minyak sawit mentah).

Abstract

The determination of the price should meet certain criteria, both from the society and the company itself. The combination of various criteria will result in another problem. Fuzzy Logic covers all influencing factors and displays the membership function graphic. Furthermore, by implementing fuzzy rules and fuzzy operator, the right price can be determined which covers all the factors above. The determination of the rules is based on the raw material cost, direct labor cost, distribution cost and the customers' opinion regarding the appropriate price. Then, the model is designed with the help of Matlab software. The result is finally obtained in the form of a model performed by Matlab software. The model displays the output concerning the selling price of the product for each change in the dominant factors.

Abstract

The implementation of AEC (Asian Economic Community) leads to demand increase at ports in Indonesia. This increasing demand is followed by operational efficiency at the port as well. In fact, ports in Indonesia have an average dwell time for 5 days. One of the causes of this long dwell time is container transfer inefficiencies during loading process. In this research, we will focus in yard management and increasing land utilization. To increase the land utilization, we develop the space-sharing concept to reduce the initial space needed for a given workload. Since the ships arrivals are also varying, this concept will be possible. We develop the concept by adding uncertainty on number of incoming containers at operational level as the determining factor in planning a shared yard area. We propose a simulation approach to evaluate strategies in making yard template.

Abstract

Many companies strive for minimizing imbalance work station as well as number of work stations. Besides, the work station’s precedence and space curb also have to be considered. So far, there exist many solutions on those quests. Two of those solutions are the straight line and the U-type line balancing. In this paper, we compare the straight line balancing to U-type line balancing using Mixed Integer Programming (MIP), particularly, for solving the assembly line of water pumps production. Additionally, we employed LINGO to solve the MIP model. The result shows that the U-type line gives a better solution than the straight line balancing in term of number of work station. Moreover, it also shows that U-type line balancing is more efficient than the straight line balancing, significantly.

Abstract

Organizational culture is one of important factors that contribute to the performance of an organization, including in a hospital. In a hospital, performance can be measured by its level of patient safety. Howover, studies and research that discuss the relationship of organizational culture and patient safety are still very limited, including in Indonesia. This research is conducted to observe organizational culture that support patient safety. This research is conducted in three hospitals in Jakarta. Type of organizational culture is identified using the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) questionnaire and the level of patient safety is assessed using the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (HSOPSC) questionnaire. Once the organizational culture is identified and the level of patient safety culture is observed in each hospital, correlation test and analysis is conducted between types of organizational culture with aspect of patient safety based. Results show that three hospitals do not have dominant organizational culture. However, type of organizational culture that has a significant positive correlation with aspect of patient safety the most is adhocracy culture, eventhough other organizational culture type also support patient safety. The result of this research then used as initial suggestion to make change on organizational culture so that patient safety could be improved.

Abstract

The paper describes principles of factorial and fractional factorial design of experiments. The various ways of analysing data obtained by these procedures are shown via four case studies. Yates method was followed in case 1 where the effect of anode type, carbon content of steel, temperature, and agitation on cathodic protection of steel in seawater, on current density, was studied. In case 2, a glass was formulated within 10 constituante melted, quantity water and tested for flow caracteristics, from the result the factor effect was calculated. In case 3, analysis of results is done in a very simple way. In this case, the effect of carbon content, surface condition, temperature, and agitation on the corrosion of steel in seawater was studied. In case 4, the effect of eleven constituents on acid resistance of a cast iron enamel has been studied through sixteen experimental compositions. This case gives a method to find out which of the sixteen experimental compositions is nearest to a target value.

Abstract

This article aims to compare the performance of combination of Genetic Algorithm-Simulated Annealing (GA-SA) with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to solve facility layout problem. GA-SA in this article consist of two algorithms, GA-SA I and GA-SA II, with a different mutation rule. PSO uses fuzzy particle swarm concept to represent solution from each particle. Two criteria to analyze all algorithms performance are moment of movement and computational time. Experiments show that GA-SA II has the best performance in minimization both criteria

Abstract

Inventory models for a policy of retail pricing and perishable items have been developed in many papers, but very few of the studies incorporate both of these effects. This study integrates the two conditions from a three-echelon supplier’s chain and offers a mathematical modeling for deteriorating inventory system with an optimal joint-cost policy. Exponentially deteriorating items with no shortages is assumed in this study. Two scenarios are considered. Scenario 1 assumed one supplier, one distributor and one retailer occurs at the regular inventory replenishment time, and scenario 2 assumes two suppliers, one distributor and two competitive retailers that to address this issue, we broaden the benchmark setting by letting the independent retailer channel be a duopoly. The mathematical model describes how the integrated approach to decision making can achieve global optimality as compared to independent decision by the suppliers, the distributor, and the retailers. A computer code is developed to derive the optimal solution. Numerical examples and sensitivity analysis are given to validate the results of the system.
