Abstract

This study attempts to measure the effect of Islamic corporate governance and Islamic social responsibility on firm value and to analyse the moderation role of profitability. Data from 12 Islamic commercial banks registered in Indonesia was taken from 2017 to 2021 and analysed using a panel data regression approach with the generalized least squares approach and model robustness testing using the robust least squares analysis method. Strong Islamic corporate governance highlights the benefits of ethical governance and increases the value of sharia-compliant banks. The long-term character of corporate social responsibility is demonstrated by the fact that some Islamic social responsibility activities do not necessarily have a positive influence on the firm value banking sector in Indonesia. High profitability strengthens Islamic corporate governance and has a beneficial impact on firm value, emphasising the interdependence between governance and financial performance. High profitability may reduce the beneficial impact of Islamic social responsibility on firm value, perhaps due to the perception of corporate social responsibility initiatives as being motivated by profit.

Abstract

This research investigates the effect of product attributes, brand awareness, advertising, sales promotion, and Word of mouth on coffee products' purchase intention. In this case, the coffee products used are Caracal coffee roasters. This research conducted preliminary interviews and a questionnaire for gathering the data. Then, the data is analyzed using narrative analysis for the data from the interview and SEM (structural equation modeling) for the data from the questionnaire. Based on the results of the interviews, most of the respondents agree that Price, Origin, Post-harvest process, and Tasting notes are the essential attributes of coffee beans for consumers. Based on the SEM analysis, all five variables, except advertising, significantly influence the Caracal coffee roaster products. Future studies should pursue more variables, especially digital marketing factors and influencers done massively in this era.

Abstract

This research tries to test the influence of enterprise risk management, intellectual capital, and sustainability reports on firm value, with a moderating effect on profitability. Data from 16 food and beverage sub-sector companies listed on the IDX has been taken from 2021 to 2022 and analysed using a panel data regression approach and model robustness testing using the robust least squares analysis method. The research results show the positive effect of enterprise risk management and intellectual capital on firm value, as well as the negative effect of sustainability reports on firm value. The moderation results show that the interaction of profitability weakens the positive effect of enterprise risk management and intellectual capital on firm value. The results also reveal that profitability strengthens the negative influence of sustainability reports on firm value. This paper discusses the implications of this research for existing literature, practitioners, and policymakers.

Abstract

Cigarette products certainly have a negative impact on health, especially for teenagers. Although there is a growing body of literature on the positive social influence of peers as a preventative measure, it is unclear how they react when convinced of the truth of its negative impact on health. This experimental study aims to examine the impact of negative health consequences on adolescents' emotions and behavior. Through an online invitation and randomization process, 78 high school students from South Sumatra Province, Indonesia were eligible to participate in the online experimental study. We compared two groups (experimental vs. control) to examine the impact of negative health consequences on their emotions (empathy) and behavior (prosocial behavior). Our findings show that, as compared to adolescents in the non-convincing health message condition (n=40), adolescents in the convincing negative health message condition (n=38) had higher empathy (sign=0.005) and prosocial behavior (sign=0.028) to assist their smoking peers. Our findings provide a valuable information to sustainability development in the future through reducing underage smokers. We suggest that the use of convincing method to develop a school-based social marketing program for handling adolescent smoking problem

Abstract

The research aims to determine the relationship between four-dimensional cultural intelligence and cross-cultural adjustment towards the effectiveness of Indonesian expatriates’ performance. In line with the research aim, this dissertation adopts a quantitative method by distributing questionnaires among 25-30 Indonesian expatriates who work at multinational corporations in the United Kingdom. The finding demonstrates a significant relationship between motivational and cross-cultural adjustment and expatriate performance effectiveness. Additionally, this research claims that most expatriates received no training prior to departing. In implication, managers are recommended to be more receptive to expatriates in terms of helping them assimilate to local culture rapidly and accordingly. Also, further research should investigate gender effect as a moderator between four-dimensional Cultural Intelligence (CQ) to Cross Cultural Adjustment (CCA), which may affect their job performances.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic caused a negative contraction in the economic structure. In West Kalimantan province, despite negative growth, the primary and secondary sectors surprisingly showed positive growth in the mining, electricity, and agriculture sectors. Based on this situation, we investigated the possibility of the structural transformation process during the pandemic. We applied Lewis's transformation theory to the analysis of primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors to examine the general trends. We used Static-Dynamic Location Quotient, Klassen typology, and Shift Share analysis, and discovered that the negative contraction in 2020 did not significantly affect each sector. However, the pattern indicates a failure in the transformation process between the tertiary and primary sectors, with the primary sector naturally proving to be the main sector in the economic structure. The critical point of our finding is that the failure of the structural transformation process was potentially caused and locked by the failure of labour shifting. To unlock the interchange of labour to modern industries, the government must address human resource issues, identify definite interchanged sectors, choose key sectors, and ensure each stage is passed thoroughlywith all necessary resources.

Abstract

Bitcoin gained significant popularity starting in 2017, when the price soared from around $1,000 at the beginning year to nearly $20,000 in December. The aim of this research to analyze the factors of investment in bitcoin in Indonesia. The population of the study is individual who invest in Bitcoin. The sample is purposive with 140 valid respondentsfrom social media bitcoin group. The research used quantitative with online survey, distributed during September to November 2022.The survey was analysed using Structural Equation Modelling with Smart PLS. This study found that the facilitating conditions, compatibility, trust, power prestige, and retention time positively influence the investing intention in Bitcoin. Moreover, Awareness does not have significant effect on investment intention. Gender does not moderate the facilitating conditions, awareness, compatibility, trust, power prestige, and retention time with intention to invest in Bitcoin. It implies that the provider should pay attention more on facilitating conditions, compatibility, and retention time of the Bitcoin investment in their platform.
