Abstract

Qur'anic semantics, as a branch of the philosophy of language, plays a crucial role in unraveling the issues of polysemy (al-wujuh wa al-naza'ir) and shifts in textual meaning. This article comprehensively reconstructs the philosophy of meaning and semantic methodology of Abu al-Qasim al-Raghib al-Asfahani (d. 1108 CE) as presented in his monumental work, Mufradat Alfaz Al-Qur'an. The analysis focuses on the concept of iman (faith) as a case study to examine the application of classical linguistic realism theory. The research employs a qualitative, descriptive-analytical method based on library research, utilizing a classical linguistic epistemology approach. The findings indicate that: (1) Raghib constructs an epistemology of meaning grounded in linguistic realism, wherein meaning is inherent and substantial within the root word (al-wadʼ al-lughawi); (2) Regarding the concept of iman, Raghib integrates the etymological linguistic meaning derived from the root a-m-n, signifying tranquility and freedom from fear into a hierarchical theological structure comprising tasdiq bi al-qalb (assent of the heart), iqrar bi al-lisan (verbal confession), and 'amal bi al-arkan (enactment through deeds); (3) Raghib’s methodology successfully resolves the dichotomy between faith and deeds that challenged classical theologians. This reconstruction offers a robust theoretical and methodological contribution to the development of contemporary thematic exegesis (tafsir mawdu'i) and provides an inclusive, systemic resolution for addressing modern radicalism and secularism.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the variant readings (qira’at) of the Qur’an through the language games approach proposed by Ludwig Wittgenstein. In the Islamic scholarly tradition, qira’at are commonly understood as variations in recitation transmitted from the Prophet Muhammad and authenticated through chains of transmission (sanad). However, this study offers a different perspective by viewing qira’at as linguistic practices embedded within specific social, historical, and theological contexts. By employing a qualitative method and a philosophy of language approach, this research finds that the diversity of qira’at reflects a plurality of language games, each with its own rules, functions, and contexts of use. This suggests that meaning in the Qur’an is neither singular nor static, but rather dynamic and shaped by its practical usage.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the strong patriarchal cultural construction in rural communities, which influences the division of gender roles, particularly for women who carry out dual roles as career women. This study aims to analyze the forms of gender negotiation undertaken by career women and identify the strategies used to balance domestic and professional roles in Kembang Jeruk Village. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study method to gain an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon under study. The research subjects were purposively selected, namely career women living in Kembang Jeruk Village. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies. The data obtained were analyzed using interactive analysis techniques that include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, while maintaining validity through triangulation of sources and methods. The results indicate that gender negotiation undertaken by career women occurs in three main aspects: the division of domestic tasks, interpersonal relationships within the family, and participation in the public sphere. This negotiation process is carried out adaptively through patterns of compromise, open communication with partners, and consideration of prevailing cultural norms. This enables women to maintain their professional existence while gaining social legitimacy within their communities. Furthermore, career women employ various strategies to maintain role balance, including structured time management, flexible division of domestic duties, leveraging social support from family, choosing flexible work styles, and intensive communication within the family. Thus, this study concludes that a balance between domestic and professional roles for career women in a patriarchal cultural context can be achieved through adaptive gender negotiation supported by a conducive social environment.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively describe the practice of philanthropy in the tradition of celebrating the Prophet's birthday in Akkor Village, Pamekasan, and analyze community motivations and their compliance with Islamic economic principles. The research method uses a qualitative approach with an ethnographic study type. Data collection was carried out through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, which were then analyzed using interactive methods. The results of the study indicate that philanthropy in the Prophet's birthday is manifested in the form of sèkor, tandhâ' arèk, provision of bherkat, self-help facilities, and donations in the form of labor. Community motivation is driven by religious awareness as a form of worship and Madurese cultural values that uphold mutual cooperation and the value of brotherhood. The tradition of Maulid is not just a religious ritual, but a mechanism for inclusive social redistribution, strengthening community cohesion, and driving the local micro economy. This practice significantly contributes to a sustainable communal economic model. Substantively, all these activities are in line with Islamic economic principles such as infaq, almsgiving, tabrru', distributive justice ('adl), ukhuwwah, and ta'awun.

Abstract

In today's modern era, raising a generation of Qur'an memorizers has become increasingly challenging due to technological and social changes. This study aims to explore effective parenting practices in nurturing children as memorizers of the Qur'an based on the experiences of senior teachers at Al-Amien Prenduan Islamic Boarding School. Employing a phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with senior teachers who have extensive experience in guiding Qur'an memorizers. The findings indicate that successful parenting practices are not solely based on discipline but also on strong emotional bonds between parents and children. Moral support, continuous motivation, parental role modeling, and a supportive environment play significant roles in the memorization process. Despite challenges such as limited time and technological distractions, collaboration between parents and the Islamic boarding school contributes significantly to the development of children who are not only proficient in memorizing the Qur'an but also possess strong spiritual values and noble character. This study provides valuable insights for parents and educators in fostering future generations of Qur'an memorizers.

Abstract

This study examines the repositioning of Indonesia’s halal industry in the Global Value Chain through the analysis of halal certification, international standardization, and Islamic economic values. The study is motivated by Indonesia’s significant potential as a country with a large Muslim market and continuously developing halal ecosystem, which has not yet been fully reflected in its position within the global halal value chain. Indonesia still faces several challenges, including international recognition of halal certification, harmonization of standards, halal logistics readiness, product traceability, Islamic financing, and the capacity of MSMEs to enter global markets. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method using a library research approach and content analysis. The findings indicate that halal certification should be positioned as an instrument of trust, quality assurance, and international market access. International standardization is necessary to ensure that Indonesian halal products receive cross-border recognition and are not constrained by regulatory differences. Meanwhile, Islamic economic values such as halal, tayyib, trustworthiness, justice, transparency, and maṣlaḥah serve as normative foundations so that halal industry development is not only directed toward competitiveness, but also toward consumer protection and public benefit.

Abstract

Advancements in communication technology have influenced interpersonal relationship patterns, leading to the normalization of dating culture among modern teenagers. Islam offers an alternative approach to relationships that aligns better with religious values specifically, the taaruf process as a pathway to marriage. However, taaruf entails limitations, notably the brief duration of the acquaintance period prior to marriage. Consequently, the process of getting to know one another does not cease before the wedding but continues into the marriage itself. This study aims to examine the evolution of interpersonal communication between couples who married through taaruf, applying the framework of Altman and Taylor’s Social Penetration Theory. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the study focuses on five married couples all alumni of the TMI Al-Amien Prenduan Islamic boarding school who entered into marriage via taaruf. Data collection was conducted at the TMI Al-Amien Prenduan Islamic boarding school using in-depth interviews and documentation. The analysis reveals that interpersonal communication between these couples evolved gradually after marriage, mirroring the stages outlined in Social Penetration Theory. Furthermore, a shared background specifically, having attended the same Islamic boarding school served as a crucial factor in accelerating the development of their communication, as it fostered a shared mindset and common experiences. Thus, the communication limitations inherent in the taaruf phase did not hinder the establishment of a harmonious interpersonal relationship after marriage.

Abstract

The contemporary family institution faces unprecedented relational vulnerabilities exacerbated by macro-structural stressors. While mainstream secular family communication paradigms provide robust frameworks for functional adaptation and conflict management, they frequently marginalize the spiritual and teleological capital essential to religious populations. Addressing this epistemological gap, this conceptual study constructs the Qur'anic Communication Model for Family Resilience. Employing a rigorous thematic textual analysis, this research synthesizes classical Islamic exegesis specifically Tafsir Al-Mishbah and Tafsir Al-Munir with contemporary family communication theories. The findings propose a four-stage, linear yet recursive continuum: (1) establishing an ontological relational baseline through sakinah (tranquility) and mu’asharah bi al-ma’ruf (dignified interaction); (2) activating the deliberative protocol of musyawarah (consultation) to deconstruct autocratic power dynamics; (3) triangulating systemic crises through hakam (mediators) and islah (reconciliation); and (4) achieving eschatological transformation via ihsan (absolute benevolence) to break cycles of negative affect reciprocity. This study successfully bridges the dichotomy between classical Islamic theology and modern communication science, pivoting from deficit-based conflict resolution to an asset-based paradigm. Ultimately, this framework provides communication scholars and clinical practitioners with a culturally resonant, evidence-based toolkit for navigating severe marital dysfunction and preventing intergenerational trauma.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of education financing management in Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah. Education financing is a crucial aspect in improving the quality of education, especially in Islamic education institutions such as Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah. In this study, a descriptive qualitative approach was used, and data were collected through interviews, observations and documentation studies. The results show that the management of financing in Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah includes planning, budgeting, implementation and evaluation. Good planning and transparency in budgeting greatly affect the effectiveness of the use of funds. In addition, community participation and cooperation with various parties, including government and private institutions, are important factors in supporting education financing. This study recommends increasing the managerial capacity of madrasah managers and developing better financial information systems to improve accountability and transparency in the management of education financing. Thus, it is expected that Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah can be more optimal in carrying out educational functions and achieving the expected goals.
