Abstract

Abstract. Autistic Disorder  can happen due to neurological expressions as the effects of environmental poisons in children who had genetical deficiency history. Current study found  that increasing of mercury (Hg) concentration in hairs had significant correlation towards increasing of  autisme level of severity. Hair analysis may identify the history of mercury’s exposure in human. This analytical correlational descriptive study aimed to identify mercury (Hg) concentration in children with autistic disorder at YAKARI Autism Foundation in Medan and at State Disability School in Binjai. This study also aimed to analyze the correlation between the Hg concentration and the symptoms’ level of severity. Hair samples were taken from 17 children with autistic disorder and 17 normal children (at similar age and sex). Mercury concentrations were analyzed by using ICP-OES. CARS were used to examine the autism symptoms’ level of severity. Majority of autistic disorder subjects (70.6%)  had severe autism symptoms. Mean of Hg concentrations in autism subjects was 1,82 ppm  ± 0,52 and in normal subjects was 0,91 ppm ± 0,68. Furthermore, mean of Hg concentrations in autistic disorder subjects was significantly higher than in normal subjects (p < 0,05). However, there was no significant difference on Hg concentrations between mild-fair and fair-severe autistic  subjects’ categories. The findings of this study explain that the severity of autism  symptoms in the autistic disorder subjects do not influenced by Hg concentrations within their body. Therefore, unidentified factors in this study might be contribute to the severity of autism symptoms. Future studies related epigenetics need to be conducted in order to explore another factors contribute to the severity of autism symptoms. Abstract

Abstract. Chemistry is very appropriate if taught using chemistry concepts with attractive appearance so it is easy to understand. So that students can be attracted and interested in learning the concepts of chemistry and can improve student learning outcomes are achieved, one way to do lecturer is by applying the concept of learning to use the concept map media. In this study a comparison between groups of students who were learning with media concept map with a group of students who were learning without media concept map. Results of the study proved that learning with concept maps media effectively used in improving student learning outcomes and interest study program mathematics FMIPA UNIMED in following the general chemistry course-I on learning stoichiometry. The average increase in learning outcomes (gain scores) students are given learning with concept maps media (lesson-1 = 0.67±0.20; lesson-2 = 0.68±0.16; lesson-3 = 0.79±0.15; and the overall lesson = 0.71 ± 0.11) higher than the average increase in learning outcomes (gain scores) students are given learning without media concept map (lesson-1 = 0.50±0.20; lesson-2 = 0.58±0.16; lesson-3 = 0.62±0.14; and the overall lesson = 0.57±0.11). Similarly, with an average increase in interest in learning (gain score interests) students are given learning with media concept map (0.46±0.10) was higher than the average increase in interest in learning (gain scores interest) given student learning without media concept maps (0.23±0.11). Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the effect of Macromedia Flash software on cooperative learning TAI (Team Assisted Individualization) on learning outcomes of students in the subject Thermochemistry. The population in this study were all students of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Stabat IA class on academic year of 2010/2011 consisting of 4 classes. Samples were taken by random sampling which consisted of the experimental class I and experiment II. The experimental class conduct with a model of cooperative learning TAI type of media with the use of Macromedia Flash and the experimental class II applied by cooperative learning TAI without media. The instrument used was in the form of multiple-choice test of 20 items that have been valid. Then test the hypothesis using a different test (t test). Research results obtained average value pretest experiment class I is 12.5 and the average value of the experimental class II pretest was 17.36. After the different treatment given to both classes of the average values obtained posttest experimental class I was 71.25 and the average value posttest experimental class II is 61.39. The hypothesis was tested by t test with results tcount> ttable (2.8125> 1.669) which means that the hypothesis that "there is the influence of Macromedia Flash software on the model of cooperative learning TAI type on learning outcomes of students on the subject of chemical thermochemical" unacceptable. Abstract

Abstract. The impact of using computer based multimedia to student’s chemistry achievement of crude oil topic at X class SMA N 1 Indralaya. The aims of this research to determine how different achievement between study by using computer and without using it in crude oil topic. The programme used macromedia flash 8. The method used quasi experiment. Data collection technique by test value. Test result prove experiment class in achievement. Experiment got average value 78,99 and 69,01 to control. Experiment class have passed standard value more than 85% and only 64,4% for control class. T-test significance level 5% t.count > t.table was 2,83 > 2,00. The result showed, there was significant differences between experiment class and control class. Keyword: multimedia based computer, student achievement

Abstract

Abstract. The decrease in air quality has long been a public health problem, particularly in the industrialized countries that has many factories and motor vehicles. The high level of air pollution in the city will affect human health in the city, and will ultimately reduce the quality of human life. The Medan city air quality periods 2011-2012  recorded data show that at Terminal Pinang Baris passed the quality standard of 150 μg/m3 for PM10 according to national standar in PP.No.41 1999. There is still plenty of evidence of the extent to which exposure to particulate matter is associated with changes in the level of systemic inflammation in the general population in the city of Medan. Exposure to air pollution is associated with increased levels of C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is believed to trigger systemic inflammation. Particle Matter (PM10) is the pollutant in the air resulting from the activity of motor vehicles, has a relationship with an increase in C-Reactive Protein. Ultimately will lead to various diseases in humans at all age levels. In cross-sectional study was conducted on 50 elderly volunteers who have been residing more than 3 years and close to the center of the air pollution in the this location. After obtaining approval from the ethics committee, then covers anamneses examination, physical examination and venous blood samples for CRP concentrations examined in the laboratory. Research result show that there are relationship between long-time resident with increasing concentrations of CRP for the elderly with statistical chi-square test and Fischer exact test. It is implies that this case enhancement factors for coronary heart disease risk in elderly residing in the study area. Keywords: CRP, long-time resident, PM10, elderly

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the increase in students learning outcomes that learned using problem based learning models using media exe learning on hydrocarbon material and correlation between the contribution of teamwork activies to improve student learning outcomes. The population all students of class X SMA Negeri 11 Medan with 8 classes. The sample taken two classes namely one class as the experimental class I who got teaching model of problem based learning using media exe learning and the  experimental class II who got teaching model of problem-based learning without media exe learning. In this study used test instrument and non-test instrumen. The test instrument that used 16 valid questions with the realibility of 0.85. The non-test instrument is used in the form of attitudes observasion sheet with indicator includes participation in learning, involvement and help peers. Based on the hypothesis test with significance level of 0.05 was tcount(4,285) > ttable(1,668). This mean Ha accepted and Ho rejected which showed an increase in student learning outcomes in the eksperimental class I higer than the eksperimental class II. Then the correlation test results indicating a positive correlation between the students teamwork activities with improving student learning outcomes that rcount(0,681) > rtable(0,320) with a coefficient of contribution 46.37%. Abstract

Abstract. In use the water has specific requirements, both for households and industry. One of the requirements that must be met is the number of water hardness, the numbers associated with the amount of calcium and magnesium. On the use of water for washing and bathing, excess of calcium and magnesium will reduce the effectiveness of the soap/detergent, even for domestic use the element content should be zero, because of the presence of these elements can cause the crust on cooking utensils. The studies conducted in August to October 2013, about the influence of traditional filtering on total hardness levels in Batang Terap village Perbaungan sub-district Serdang Bedagai regency. The goal of this research is to find out the influence of traditional filtering for the well water total hardness levels. Samples taken as many as 10 samples before filtering and 10 samples after filtering from the same 10 house, which the characteristic feature of water containing total hardness is the formation of crust on cookware. Analysis were performed using complexometry method. Results obtained before screening was 158.36 ppm- 283.55 ppm, and after filtration was 134.82 ppm-179.75 ppm. The result of decreased levels of hardness before and after filtering is 8.13%-36.60% Keywords: well water, total hardness, complexometry

(3) Interaction between M3PK and PBL usingMS Frontpagemediawith critical thinking abilityon effect ofstudents’ learning outcomes.The population in this study is all students in siswa di SMA Negeri 1 Labuhanhaji Barat of the school year 2014/2015. Sampling techniquewas   purposive sampling. The sample in this study consisted of 2 class that are XI-IPA I and XI-IPA 2. XI-IPA I class as experiment class 1 taught with M3PK using Ms Frontpage media. XI-IPA 2 class as experiment class 2 taught with PBL using Ms Frontpage media. The study instrument in the form an objective test of learning outcome and observation sheet of students’ critical thinking ability. The data analysis performedbytheGeneralLinear Models(GLM)Univariate using SPSS 16.0 programe. Theresults showedthat: (1) There are significant effect of M3PK and PBL with usingMs Frontpagemedia on students’ critical thinking ability. (2) There are significant effect of M3PK and PBL with usingMs Frontpagemedia on students’learning outcomes. (3) There are no interaction between learning models with students’ critical thinking ability in affecting student learning outcomes. Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine: 1). The learning outcomes differences between  students who learned with an integrated model of Problem Based Learning (PBL) Internet media and Internet media integrated Direct Instruction (DI) and Direct Instruction (DI) learning. 2) The difference of character values of tolerance, communicative, confidence, respect democratic achievements and spreading among the students who learned with an integrated model of PBL and the Internet media DI teaching model integrated Internet media as well as the DI teaching model. 3) There is an interaction between the characters tolerant, communicative, confidence, appreciate spreading democratic achievements and the learning outcomes of students who learned with an integrated model of PBL and the Internet media DI teaching model integrated Internet media as well as the DI teaching model. 4) what cognitive domains spreading the students who learned with an integrated model of PBL and the Internet media DI teaching model integrated Internet media as well as the DI teaching model. The sample in this study consisted of three experimental class. Before the first treatment that has been done in the pre-test validation by a team of experts. Student learning outcomes measured by achievement test instrument using the normalized gain, while for the characters used questionnaires and observation. The analysis technique used Anacova significant at α 0,0. The hypothesis was tested using univariate general linear models. The results showed that there were significant differences in learning outcomes of students who received learning PBL model with an integrated internet and integrated Internet Direct Instruction and Direct Instruction Model .2. There are differences in character values of tolerance, communicative, confident, achievement and respect democratic spreading among the students who learned with an integrated model of PBL Internet and DI model of integrated Internet and DI. Abstract

Abstract. This study aimed to obtain a student worksheet (LKS) on  electrolyte and non electrolyte solution based innovative PBL and its influence on learning outcomes, affective and psychomotor attitudes of high school students. To achieve the objectives, conducted quasi-experimental research which starts from the assessment of some chemical LKS electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution that is used by high school students of class X, compile worksheets based innovative PBL, standardize, and limited test. There are two types of instruments in this research instrument a questionnaire BSNP non test and test instrument in the form of a multiple choice test is valid. The results obtained from this study: (1). Student worksheet (LKS) electrolyte and non electrolyte solution developed already meet the standards set by the National Education Standards. (2) The results of the student learning outcomes of senior high school students that learned using innovative worksheets on the electrolyte and non-electrolytes is higher than using an existing worksheet. (3). Affective percentage of students that learned using innovative worksheets on the electrolyte and nonelectrolytes is higher than using existing worksheets. (4). Psychomotor percentage of students that learned using innovative worksheets on the material and the electrolyte and nonelectrolytes is higher than using existing worksheets.
